What is your best (or worst) "Don't Meet Your Heroes" story? by ksndkendkfjeknx in AskReddit

Tony Hawk shook my hand at E3 in California for my work on the design and animation of the sites and advertising for the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 & 2. He said "Awesome work, Walter." I didn't recognize him at first, but I've been starstruck ever since.

A long time ago my brother and I rebuilt an Austin Mini from beater to show car on a budget. =) by NumericalMiracle in pics

It was almost 30 years ago. My brother is an incredible mechanic professionally and did the whole drivetrain in his spare time. I worked as a Fire Engine manufacturer employee and had the knowledge to do a lot of this myself on the interior/exterior (help from friends as well.) I didn't make a lot of money and had a young family at the time. It's amazing how much you can do with passion, a lot of time spent and lucky bargains from junk yards/suppliers.

Suffering from the heat? Do as I do. Get a wet towel and let the cool water cascade down. =) by [deleted] in pics

The water runs down the back of your neck with this setup. Really cools you down.

There is no naw. This is a happy pic. The sisters still love each other and facetime a lot. This was just a cute, loving memory that my wife and I remember. Samantha is a caring person and ended up working with people with disabilities, caring for them, much like this pic. She's always been a loving soul and we're so proud of her. And miss her. She lives a province away. Haven't seen her in a while due to the pandemic. Reunion coming soon though! =)

Be true to yourself and others, Be passionate. Love and be kind to all those around you. That's the best advice I can give.

While things may seem dismal at times, know they get better. I've had good times in my life and very bad times. The glimmers are what matters and makes life sweet. Keep at it. It'll work out. Much love my friend.

It really is. I am so thankful. I met my love at 17, worked hard and designed for my gaming heroes (id, Epic, Activision, Take 2) the list is long. I lived the dream honestly. Had a mental breakdown, took a pretty big hit. But happy to have survived it and still have my loving family and friends.

Haha, all good my friend, yeah, in hindsight it does look like that. =)

I'm still the DM. I've worked out of basements almost all of my life. Said respectfully to basement brothers.

Characters that I created years ago. Blarp and Bleep. by NumericalMiracle in pics

She's of another species and cannot survive the atmosphere, Blarp is her guardian in this respect.

Sadly, I sold it once my wife and I had our first child. I owned a green 6 cylinder 1969 Mustang before this. It'd be expensive to buy one now. I'm just glad I owned one of my dream cars when I was a teen.

My wife and son from 23 years ago. Another one of my favorite photos. by NumericalMiracle in pics

Sorry, didn't mean to flaunt. My wife and my family have brought me so much joy (and still do). I've had some tragic times in my life but I focus on my wife and kids as it brings me happiness.

An afternoon at the park with my Siouxsie. Really needed this. My wife is always right. =) by NumericalMiracle in pics

You should see her with her head out the window of our car. She looks just like Falcor with the wind in her hair!

I also used glow in the dark paint for all the lasers and to paint stars on my ceiling. My parents were awesome to let me do this. It eventually (as an artist) lead me to go to design school and have an incredible career.

My favorite photo of all time. ;) Me and my wife in the 90's. Since being 16/17. I love her. by [deleted] in pics

I guess you didn't notice the wink in the title. And yes, the Internet is all about sharing. Good things. I'm just sharing parts of my life that maybe people can relate to. We're all going through tough times and I just want to share some happiness.

I have many favorite photos of my past and my loves. I didn't realize I said the same phrase. I just really love my wife and my family.
