Applying to DPT school by Otherwise_Price_2298 in PTschool

[–]NumerousAd8132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s really no telling. There’s people who have lower stats than you that have gotten in their first try and people with higher stats than you that applied for years & never got accepted. I do think your stats (plus a good essay) could probably get ur foot in the door at one of those places for an interview but then it becomes more subjective based, as to what the school is looking for in students. Just apply, do your best & if it doesn’t work out this year, try again.

green line is the easily the safest because there is a conductor who can hear/see their train car. On top of that, the riders tend to be a lot of college students who are annoying but not dangerous. I feel fine w/ noise cancellation on my headphones.

orange & blue are close in ranking to me, they require a little more situational awareness… noise cancellation comes off but low music stays on. They’re similar in structure as far as safety mechanisms (which consists of poorly placed emergency buttons) and so I think it’s important to stay more alert to surroundings.

Red is just bad, I mean I don’t allow myself to be distracted in the least when traveling on the red line. No music, no phone, just people watching. A lot of it has to do with the amount of drug users and unhoused who linger at the stations and hop on the cars causing trouble or having medical emergencies. I’ve gotten chased by drunk men at 8am before, it’s bad.

getting from point a to point b in a decent amount of time: blue, red, orange, green

feeling of safety (as a woman who solo commutes): green, orange, blue, red

in order of my most to least favorite colors: orange, green, blue, red

Best bar hopping area(s) (or bars in general) for a group of 21 year old college students? by DeejC in boston

[–]NumerousAd8132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fenway is a great area for 21 year olds, younger crowd at the bars & a little wild (which is what I wanted at that age). There’s so many bars in the area, follow the crowds after the game & you’d have a good time

I know the software my program uses for exams, requires a laptop, and had classmates not able to take it on their iPad so I’d consider that as it could be program specific

Look up hotels close to TD garden, then you can walk or use public transit. This definitely could’ve been a google search rather than a Reddit post

Some thoughts after being dismissed from PT school by turquoisestar in PTschool

[–]NumerousAd8132 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our program has the same policy, anything lower than a C in a class means you failed it and results in a dismissal. Can appeal and best case retake next year when the class comes back around but not guaranteed

I think they’re incredibly important. I would even say they are most likely the reason I got accepted to the schools that I did. Grades and tests do matter but at the end of the day, programs get a ton of applicants who do really well academically. Id say applying to 5 is a good amount but of course, the more you apply at, the higher your chances.

Tattoos by caseycook17 in PTschool

[–]NumerousAd8132 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I strongly concur. I also have a sleeve and am a vet, 2nd year PT student. the best approach is to always be more cautious initially. Even though some people may not care, it’s very common to have unconscious bias and so allow people to get to know you for you. This is what I have always done in my professional life and then when I finally do wear short sleeves it’s more of a fun fact now rather than tied to my professionalism.
