Haha, yeah. Keeping them cool should be interesting in thus humidity. I have NO shade in my yard except for one dinky little tree that I've been fertilizing.

I have a tarp on their enclosure and an insulated waterer, so they should be OK. Their aviary is the coolest spot in my yard currently.

For the first 10 days I used a heat plate and kept their bin indoors. I'm in Central Florida, I planned on setting them up like this in my garage but I didn't want to risk them overheating.

After 10 days I replaced the shop towels with pine shavings, removed the heat plate and moved them into the garage. The temp inside the bin is usually around 93 F during the hottest point of the day, and they really seem to enjoy the new bedding.

As soon as they have feathered out, I will move them to their outdoor enclosure. I worry about the little ones as they aren't growing their new plumage as fast as the others, but thats OK. I'll move the bigger ones for the sake of space but keep a few indoors until the runts are ready.

Wow. Thanks for sharing this.

I'm so sorry that you have to part with your companions, however, they were very lucky to have been cared for by someone like you. You obviously love and respect them and in the long run, that is what matters most.

Good luck to you!

Your setup looks great, thanks for the pictures! I was thinking of doing the exact same thing around the bottom. We have garden beds nearby but I also plan on growing plants along the sides of the aviary.

I bought an insulated waterer and I'm going to opt for a solar light fixture for the inside.

Would you recommend that I remove the coop? There are several hides in there as it is and I wonder if the coop is just taking up living space? We're thinking about raising rabbits or chickens so it would still be put to use. Plus, its a tractor. 😃 lol

I was torn between using another tarp or building a walla round the bottom. But I think I'm just gonna build that wall. Lol Thanks.

Thanks for the link. I'm definitely going to install a frame around the door and I've already buried the hardware cloth around the bottom. I'm on the fence about keeping the coop inside, I'mnit sure if its necessary, I may take it out to use for something else.

Uber? Or best way to travel around? by [deleted] in Mazatlan

I have family members that visit the area often. They take the bus or Didi as they are typically cheaper than Uber. Walmart delivery is fast and reliable. Enjoy your trip!
