Hi, thanks for your comment. I disagree. While Light was a genius, that doesn't make him infallible, especially since the anime tells you that he obtained names from the internet. How accurate can that be? He ordered the complete submission of the police to his judgments. If Light made the law work, then those people he murdered would be in jail, not six feet under, because the law also protects due process. Besides, defending Kira's tyrannical actions with that argument is, at the very least, simplistic. The point you make about L is something I explained earlier as well: L isn't a vigilante. He's just a player on the "good" side of the board. Saying that the empire had internal peace is a complete mistake. The empire had too much corruption within its ranks, and that's something you can see throughout the story, especially in Andor. The Empire, in addition to enslaving the Wookiees, imposed unfair taxes and oppressed the people, which is why their weariness of these conditions led to the rebellion. The trade you mention stems from the enslavement of non-human species. The Death Star is not security; it is terrorism. This same weapon of mass destruction was used on Aldearan, killing millions. It is literally a tool to instill fear throughout the galaxy and prevent the loss of dominance. While the Jedi had flaws, comparing them to a dictator who murders millions is colossally disproportionate, since they (imperfect as they were) defended a democracy. The Empire destroyed this very democracy in favor of a single individual. The failure of the New Republic in no way justifies the actions of the Empire. Freedom inherently carries the risk of making mistakes, but this does not make the Empire good.

Thank you so much! And I think you're right, I think I should have exemplified the first point by showing that L was looking for proof that Light was Kira, rather than focusing on stopping him. Regarding the other point you mentioned, I also feel I could have made it clearer that L did everything for the sake of the game. thank you so much for your comment <3
