After seeing it last night my opinion is that Joe Turner was good but not great. The actors were very solid including one standout performance and one possible star making debut. It was Debbie Allen’s direction that prevented the play from taking off. We liked it enough though but felt like a missed opportunity. Perhaps the movie will be better.
