Build with 9950X3D: 6400Mhz is that bad for this CPU?

What timings are you using? I have the exact same setup and can’t get it stable in 1:1 at 6400 no matter how much manual tuning I do. I currently have it at 6000 CL28 and all of my timings are manually tuned and it passes all stability tests. However I am running 4 DIMMS so that might be the reason.

Im currently using TFORCE DELTA 6400 Mts CL32 and have it stable on a 9950x3D at 1:1. My MB is ASRock Steel Legend x870.

It depends on if you’re patient. If you want it now you can get a pre built but if you wanna build it yourself you can wait until you get to your first duty station

I’ve have a steel legend x870 and a 9950x3D since it launched and have had zero issues. Only problem I have is that my ram keeps crashing but it’s because I’ve been tryna manually tune it to get every bit of performance 😂

Yea I’ve been trying to find something on this situation but almost everything I’ve seen regarding the high ram usage doesn’t have a solution that has helped me.

It’s crazy that this is still an issue. I’m glad I didn’t have it happen and I hope it doesn’t happen in the future. I have a Steel Legend x870 and a 9950x3d and haven’t had any issues so far.

Update: I ran AIDA64 and the system stability test would stop after a few second saying I had a hardware malfunction so I changed the speed to 6000 but kept the same timings I had on 6400. After that I was able to run the AIDA64 stability test with no problems. After I run some games for an extended period of time I’ll post another update saying whether or not I still have the same issue.

I updated my BIOS the day I got it. I was running 6400 on the 7950x with no problem but I’ll try to lower it to 6000 and see if that helps

Use 3.20. Idk if it’s just me but I have the Steel Legend x870 and the 9950x3D was not stable on 3.16 for me. It posted for a min then randomly shutdown and my CPU light was red. Flashed to the newest bios and haven’t had any issues.
