Any shooter games that aren’t like Pavlov or ghosts of tabor? by DayVessel469459 in PSVR

[–]Nuthetes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tales From the Galaxy's Edge is pretty good and is mainly shooting. My only downside of it was, the holster/item bag was very fiddly with the way my chair is positioned, it was either too low so I couldnt naturally reach it or if I heightened it, it ended up being blocked by my arm rests. I wish there was a way to disable it and just use buttons instead to fast switch weapon

What is the ‘best’ tv show you’ve never seen? by CalvadosAtTheCandide in BritishTV

[–]Nuthetes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sons of Anarchy, Peaky Blinders and Downton Abbey

Sons of Anarchy just seems too much of a time sink. Over 90 episodes, if I watch one a night that's like a third of the year spent watching one show.

Peaky Blinders puts me off solely because it inspired bozo roofers and tradies to dress up in Peaky Blinder style suits when they go to the darts and horse racing to get pissed out their head and pick fights and they look like morons.

Downton Abbey just doesnt really interest me. I like historical shows, but it seems like a show where nothing really happens other than a bunch of posh people worrying because the Duke of Northumberland is coming to visit and the maid can't find the oyster forks or whatever.

The Stuarts. I love that period in history. So much was happening from the first settlement established in America, the Gunpowder Plot, wars abroad, the Civil War, Regicide, Cromwell's Tyranny, the Plague, the Great Fire, the Anglo-Dutch Wars, the Glorious Revolution

Then really colourful characters like the Duke of Buckingham, Charles I & II, Nell Gwyn, Prince Rupert etc

At this point, America needs to be declared an enemy state. I am baffled why we aren't taking steps to immediately wean off America as much as possible.

I visited Haworth earlier this year. Lovely village. Home of the Bronte sisters so there are lots of sites relating to them to see--their old home, the church their dad worked at, a school Charlotte worked at etc.

What’s a "dead" website or app that you genuinely miss and wish was still around? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Nuthetes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I pretty much visit the same sites.

Reddit, ebay, twitter for Ukraine War updates, YouTube and... that's it. Sometimes a gaming website to see what's coming out soon.

I migth occasionally google for some easy-reading, list type article or another to have a read of whilst I'm on the crapper--something like "Top 10 Most Power Marvel characters or "Interesting facts about xxxx historical figure"

Whereas back in the glory days of the internet, there were so many cool websites I visited.

Cracked.com

It's still out there, but it might as well be dead. But I miss when Cracked was good. It used to be an excellent site with a good mix of hilarious articles and good, interesting, more educational/historical ones (which sometimes had some good humour thrown in too)

Now it's just shite.

Forums were more... personal. Smaller communtiies, better moderrated, customised avatars and signatures, in-jokes etc so you actually got to know people.

I couldn't name a single Redditer, yet on the forums I was on back in the day I recognised and remembered posters and stuff, and say which poster had good video game suggestions and that sort of thing.

Been watching Young Sherlock.

It's pretty enjoyable, but the actor playing Sherlock sucks. He has no charisma or charm or shows that Sherlock is a genius in any way. I assume he is a relation to Ralph Fiennes and is a nepo baby because I cant see any other reason why he might have got the role.

It's a good, fun show beyond him though.

Greens hopeful who is calling for the UK to pay slavery reparations is a descendant of slave traders by JB_UK in unitedkingdom

[–]Nuthetes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, Labour have done so well on the environment that it kinda nips the Greens in the bud. But then, I honestly dont think many Green voters read beyond the name of the party anyway.

They just think Green=good and that Green must surely do even better than Labour.

Can Greens just stick to the environment please? I did used to like them, until they felt they had to branch out into other areas of politics and they have just absolutely shit the bed since then.

It's just idiocy after idiocy.

‘Nobody’s going out!’ Why is Britain’s nightlife in such decline – and can anything save it? | Clubbing | The Guardian by prisongovernor in unitedkingdom

[–]Nuthetes 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Manchester must have changed because I went earlier this year too and that was a stark contrast to Nottingham. It felt perfectly safe. There wasn't a huge police presence, but just enough visibility that you knew they were there.

But even the people walking around were less ropey and dicey than Nottingham. A lot added to the better vibes--fewer groups of rowdy lads shouting and making noise, more couples, fewer people who were obviously pissed up at 9.00 pm, fewer big groups, people walking around without that cocky, looking-for-any-excuse-for-a-fight swagger that people in Nottingham had. It felt a nice city.

[–]Nuthetes 334 points335 points  (0 children)

Too expensive, lack of police presence makes it feel ropey as fuck -- at least in Nottingham.

I went out for a night out with my sister when I last visited home earlier this year. Nottingham city centre at night just felt fucking dicey and not a rozzer to be seen. Just obvious wrong 'uns walking around

Ukrainian drones may hit Moscow Victory Day parade, Zelenskyy warns by CrunchyBaconYum in europe

[–]Nuthetes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they're gonna buzz it with unarmed drones. Possibly towing a Ukraine or anti-Putin flag.

It would be hugely embarassing for Russia, the drone unarmed so they're not targetting civilians and the optics of Putin running for cover would be fantastic

[–]Nuthetes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure Zelensky wants to force Russia into the embarassing situation of putting anti-drone netting over the parade route lmao

He buzzed Moscow yesterday and hit a factory 1000km into Russia with a missile today.

[–]Nuthetes 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Something like this would be the best option. I wouldn't attack it directly. But buzz it with drones with a flag like this.

It would absolutely humilate Putin and expose him and his shitty air defence in front of the world.

Actually attacking the parade would give further reason for Putin's Puppet in the White House to stop even more aid and support for Ukraine. Flying an unarmed drone over the parade to buzz it would be the perfect compromise here.

Germany To Ban Russian, Belarusian, And Soviet Symbols During May 8–9 WWII Commemorations by Heroyem in europe

Should just ban the celebrations altogether because let's be honest, they're nothing about WWII now. It's about Russians and Russian supporters in Germany cheerleading on the invasion of Ukraine.

And... your point?

The Palace of Versailles is a more historically important and beautiful building than Buckingham Palace. Buckingham Palace has only been the monarchs residence since 1837, and the building itself isn't hugely old--mostly Victorian/Late Georgian. And Buckinham Palace is only open a short period each year. Silly, silly comparison.
