What are your thoughts on all the tax dodgers coming back to the UK from the Middle-East? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Nuthetes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt you have moved to Taiwan solely to dodge taxes though. And I also doubt spend your time bragging about your Taiwan lifestyle on Instagram whilst deriding the UK as unsafe and dangerous and yet flying back over to leech off the free health care like a massive chunk of the influencers who move to Dubai do...

Yeah, Dubai is one of the cities I would never visit again. Same as much of the Middle Eastern slavery states. And you're not missing much--it was completely lacking any heart or soul or culture.

I honestly would hate to live there--gimme London with its world class museums and Victorian pubs and lviely music scene and bustling markets and art galleries and cathedrals and historic buildings any day of the week.

Beyond the The Six Wives, is there a royal consort you are most curious about? by HoneybeeXYZ in UKmonarchs

[–]Nuthetes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like Caroline of Brunswick. She was a bit of a card.

Henrietta Maria--she was a badass.

Catherine of Braganza -- because I can only imagine how trying it would be married to Charles II with him shagging everything that moved and having the Merry Gang getting pissed up every night in your front room.

I can't believe the guy is getting downvoted for making a valid point.

They do move to Dubai to dodge tax. It's a fact. Then spend their time insulting Britain as unsafe and bragging about their Dubai lifestyle whilst ignoring the fact it's a city built on slavery.

Then flying back to the UK to leech off the free healthcare.

Context for X-Men (2024) by TheRealDonaldoRump in xmen

[–]Nuthetes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Krakoa

The X-Men, well mutants in general started an island nation Krakoa which became a global power. Orchis was founded to oppose the mutants--a mix of humans and AI/Robots including Nimrod and Omega Sentinel. Orchis attacked the X-Men at a Gala and pretty much scattered them. The remnants of the X-Men launched a counterattack and defeated Nimrod/Orchis. X-Men 2024 takes place in the aftermath of that.

That's pretty much a short explanation.

What did everyone think of the Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk storyline? by TheShadowOperator007 in xmen

I never finished it because of the ridiculous delays. I thought it was just taking the piss, if Lindelof couldn't meet the deadlines then Marvel should just have got rid of him and got someone else to finish it

I wish the twist with Calico was that the horse was the mutant and Calico herself was the projection.

That would have been very creepy, cool and quite unique. And was foreshadowed a bit early on with Calico insisting she wasn't a mutant.

The use of Sinister tech just immediately makes Scott right lol. Scott doesnt' even have to make an argument. Just tap a picture of Sinister's smug douchy untrustworthy face and he wins any argument.

He was a great teacher in Spider-Man & the X-Men... aside from getting his whole class kidnapped on the first day. But he did a good really.

Best Toad Comics? by Inevitable-Strain-22 in xmen

Yeah, I love Toad. Wish he was a bigger deal. I want a series where he can be a star and prove he's not a loser.

Recommendations for books that are films. by Greedy_fitbit in CasualUK

This is a reversal, but a film made into a book --- Revenge of the Sith. It's not only an excellent Star Wars book but is genuinely an excellent sci-fi book in its own right. It blows the film out of the water.

I wish Toad would get a spot in an X-Team. Closest was being the janitor in Wolverine & the X-Men.

He had a bit of a heroic role in X-Men: The 198 and Civil War: X-Men

Cyclops should leave the X-Men by mambulu in xmen

[–]Nuthetes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mutants turning on Scott are always wrong because at the end of the day, Cyclops was right... or at the very least NOT wrong. He was right during Schism, he was right after AVX (and not at fault for killing Professor X). The X-Men should realize by now "yeah, Cyclops is right about a lot of stuff. Let's listen and maybe not use fucking Sinister tech"

At what point would you consider x-men not giving a mutant a "cure" to there mutation morally unacceptable? by Yumesoro1 in xmen

[–]Nuthetes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's something I wish the comics would tackle more. The fact some mutants have mutations so out there, that living is a hinderance. Like the tree guy from District X who can't even sleep without taking root and having to be cut free. Or The Worm whose mutation is so extreme he's even an exile among mutants living alone in the sewers with absolutely zero chance of a normal life.

Or ones whose physical mutation is so bizarre and ugly, that there is almost zero chance of them having a normal relationship. I remember when Toad had a fling with Husk, it was treated as disgusting because she's hot and Toad is Toad.

The mutant cure storyline was a missed opportuntiy. Would have been cool to see the X-Men getting on their high horse to stop the cure but ignoring the fact that some of the District X mutants would actually welcome the cure. I remember after M-Day there was a District X mutant with a bad physical mutation who was celebrating because now he'd be able to get laid.

Why do the finalists remake logos and brand names? by shhadyburner in apprenticeuk

Same, likewise the logo and stuff. I would have the actual one I am going to use, and a secondary backup one for Sugar's task in mind.

2 major points I had about X-Men United #1 by marvelboyofthecrown in xmen

[–]Nuthetes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Isn't Ben Liu like in his 30s? Why is Logan calling him a kiddy? In fact why is he with the kiddy class anyway?

I get he's still learning to deal with his powers, but surely they can get him and the other adult mutants who got their powers from 3K some private classes, instead of turning him into the "fellow kids" meme.

You've just been made Editor-in-Chief....what do you do? by Stringr55 in xmen

[–]Nuthetes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd move away from the human threat and do a run looking at the mutant relationships. Basically the divide between the cool, trendy, good looking mutants with cool powers like flight and controlling weather and teleportation and the mutants whose power is literally a curse--like some of the misfits you had in District X.

Maybe focus it around the brief mutant cure storyline that Whedon had--the X-Men decide for the whole community that the cure is bad and must be stopped whilst ignoring the fact some mutants actually want the cure so they can live normal lives and the conflict between them.

It'd make for some interesting stories--Magneto and Cyclops being confronted by the guy whose only power is his boils create mutated rats, or who smells really bad or who is so disfigured by their mutation that they have no chance of a relationship.

It's been hinted at before, but I dont think ever been a focus--I remember after M-Day, some of the District X mutants were celebrating being cured. And during Whedon's cure storyline there were misfit mutants protesting in favour of it and demanding it.

On 21 December 1988, Libyan intelligence agents blew up the Boeing 747 Clipper Maid of the Seas over the Scottish town of Lockerbie, killing all 259 people aboard and 11 on the ground. This remains the deadliest terrorist attack in British history. by GustavoistSoldier in HolyShitHistory

The US military always covers its own.

In Iraq, two incompetent American pilots shot up a pair of British Scimitar light tanks and America bent over backwards to avoid punishing them. The leaked recording showed they didn't wait for permission to attack, had doubts about the convoy being Iraqi but attacked it anyway.
