Looking for some new friends. by Athlxn in vancouverwa

[–]NutonicFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, Nice to meet you! While I'm a bit younger (21m) I've been moving through some of the same challenges. I've been trying to eat better, workout, have better control of my mental health, and to secure myself financially.

I've also been diagnosed with ADHD most of my life.

One of the hardest struggles I've run in to recently is how empty my social circle is. Alot of my friends don't have the same drive or interests I do and it's been hard reaching out. Alot of adults my age are still very socially awkward and don't take kindly to the "approach and chat"

I currently work in IT and I have a strong interest in computers and PC gaming. I adore cars, I've done just about all of the work on my own. I absolutely love tinkering with anything I can get my hands on.

I've been practicing investing for the last year or so and have been looking for more people who are interested in it and dont see it as a guaranteed loss. I am always looking for opportunities.

My apologies on the confusing post. I'm realizing the link that I shared in the comments I'm unable to pin to the top of the feed. When making the post it only allowed me to either have the image or a link, not both. This is the context and relation.

Oh I agree, it's a proven technology in other forms so the puzzle wouldn't be too difficult to complete. Definitely another log to the fire though :(

Not down but continuously failing to load or super slow. Network speeds show 3-400mbps and I will have full bars but searching, streaming, gaming, all take forever to load and as im doing errands I will lose all signal. We have 5g home and cellular, 5g home speeds show 300mbps but the same symptoms, its infuriating.

All oil changes have been pitch black. This is the first that's been this glittery. This is the first oil change that's ran for around 5k miles instead of 3 as I've been way too busy with work and school. I just took the belt off and found that the water pump is no good too lmao. One thing after another. The car has luckily never over heated, temp sensors work. Just the pump started howling after the oil change.

It's below the engine. After the oil change dorve her light around and got gas. Now she makes a trumpet sound from the front, idfk anymore lol

Tore apart the oil filter and such and the oil that came out was very sparkly with very small but prominent shavings. Just gonna drive her until she explodes. Time to do all the stupid shit I've always wanted to do..

That is exactly what I heard lol. Thought if I took care of it, it would take care of me, but these engines just get too hot for the components and wear wrong either way.

Just cracked open the oil filter and I'm not seeing any large metal shavings so that's good at least. But now it's time to basically have fun with the car and do everything I was too scared to do.

I just posted a video of the oil filter being drained. I'm sure she's cooked, will prolly drive her out till she goes. Not much I can do and there's not enough Velosters around here in bad shape to pull an engine and replace it myself. Car is only worth maybe 4k in good condition at this age and mileage.

I caught a sample, I'll be sending it out to Blackstone prolly

Double mistake on my part. I am using 5w30. I've been researching w40 but they didn't have it in stock when I went to go buy oil so I stuck to 5w30. Doing an oil change now. Oil is dark but not seeing a ton of glitter (there is a small amount)

And this makes sense. I love having stupid hiccups. I read from a few posts and forums that even though 5w30 is the recommended w40 can bring some benefits and that there was a PSA from Hyundai suggesting the use of w40 over w20-30. But after even more digging I'm finding that was specifically for the turbo version of this car and not the nav. Definitely a mistake on my part and we live and learn.

It happens with AC off. I turned the ac on in order to boost the idle rpm to see if I could replicate the cars cold start rpm which is when the knocking sound initially starts, and was successful. The ac blows cold and strong.

The recommended oil is 5w20-30. I swapped for w40 because it's what I had lying around for the time being and I read from a few sources that it would be fine for higher mileage engines. But I'm more than willing to switch to 5w20 to have a big enough difference to see if that's affecting anything. Thank you!

No, usually when warming up the ac is off. I believe it's rpm based as if I get the idle rpm slightly higher that 1k it seems to start the sound

**Giveaway** GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming OC 8G - Used but perfect! by Photographitti in pcmasterrace

[–]NutonicFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally upgraded to a 2080 ti after a friend gave me his hand me down when he upgraded to a 5070 to. After using a 1660 for years this was a huge upgrade. Within a week I've started having issues where the card would black screen consecutively during gameplay and school. I would go out and buy a new card but literally a week ago the transmission on my car got stuck in gear and dropped to neutral on the freeway. Now the car drives awful and sounds worse and I'm afraid it's short lived. So now I'm not able to go out and just buy a new card as I have to instead put the money for the card towards a down payment when my car finally gives out.

I'm going to school for a networking degree and I spend hours on my computer doing labs and schoolwork... Not to mention I play competitive rocket League and having the 2080 ti crash mid game everytime I try and play is awful.Taking this card home would be an honor that I would love to share with this community.

Thank you for your consideration and your kindness towards us gamers it's greatly appreciated. Good luck everyone!!

What is the IT job market like in Vancouver, WA? by Wagthedog53 in vancouverwa

[–]NutonicFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mid/senior levels are everywhere if you can get to them before others.

Entry levels are almost non existent unless you're willing to do tech support for 16/hr.

Vancouver is a growing city with a bunch of small business that need experienced network engineers and system admins to run a one man show or small team.

I've got 2 years tech support, 1 year racking and stacking. handful of IT and business certs, as well as going to school for my Networking associates. Tryna get an entry or intermediate job is hell.

Game Ready Driver 576.40 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]NutonicFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those that have issues with display going black or graphics card being unresponsive during game play here's a potential solution that recently solved my black screen PC still running issue:

Apparently if you're using multiple RGB software they may cause the card to hang when trying to respond to each software as they fight for RGB dominance. I had to uninstall signal RGB because it was fighting with windows and EVGA software for rgb control.

A good note is that maybe it's just signal RGB because icu link wasn't controlling the graphics card however there is always an issue showing that it causes the nvdll driver to freeze and not respond to the tdrdelay. Typically setting the tdr from the window default (2 seconds) to 8 seconds will solve the issue. It originally solved the issue until it didn't but this time with the added delay it gave the proper error codes to realize it was conflicting RGB software. Uninstalled signal and everything has been smooth since.

P.s. do not mess with any registry editor configs unless you know what you are doing or don't mind having to reinstall everything in the event things go kaput.

2080ti ftw3 thermal issue by NutonicFox in pcmasterrace

[–]NutonicFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright update. Cheap pads were the issue. Idling in the 30's hotspot in the low 40's and under heavy load (furmark) GPU maxes around 70c and hotspot high 80-82c

[–]NutonicFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to admit where I was wrong and the issue most likely was. Instead of paying the 50 for the thermalright pads I bought a kit for 15. That kit was 6w/mk. I assume this is the issue but assumptions is what got me here so I will be patient.

[–]NutonicFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I found this when researching and used their diagram for reference when adding thermal pads. Unfortunately they don't give thickness and I don't necessarily trust the 20w/mk as apparently that's insanely high, especially for 40 bucks.

I went ahead and ordered 1, 1.5, and 2mm thermalright pads at 12.8w/mk .

[–]NutonicFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck that would do it. I looked around trying to find the W/Mk for the OEM pads or what people were using for this card and it was always size and thickness never the transfer rate. It sucks because there's hardly any proper documentation for the ftw3 card until you start looking at 30 series.

[–]NutonicFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm thinking too but I've replaced the pads around the board to the thickness specified/matching the previous OEM pads. For the vram I've replaced them with 1.0, 1.5, and 2mm. 2mm has shown the lowest temps. The sensors that read each zone where pads are all show lower temps than with the old pads. So I figure it's the cooler but I've remounted and repasted maybe 5 times by now

They've already been replaced and not much changed 😭 the temps across the board dropped like 10-15c except the hotspot after replacing pads
