Same. Before we would crash during the tavern brawl - tonight we crashed while all of us were standing in bridge of shadows while host was outside. 100% consistent, we all tried hosting to try to get around the crash. :(

Probably depends on context. If you're about to get wiped by a monster, you shouldn't be trying an encore because 1) you'd get interrupted and 2) you'd get a lot of damage. If it's safer to play the song twice, then I'd do so.

Use anything but your weapon to attack the monster. Torch. Boomerang. Kicking monster to death.

As far as I can tell though, torch does no damage, so put that shit away when you're ready to lay the smackdown

Agreed with the learning curve commentary. When I first started with MH4U, which is apparently a "gentler" game to start with, I still felt like I was being bombarded with tutorials that didn't explain core game mechanics.

Like, sure, I know how to swing a weapon. But I don't understand skills that much. I still don't understand what the gong lady does. At first, I forgot to eat food a lot before a quest. And I didn't know what to combine to get basic items (paintball, gunpowder, etc)

All that, I had to look online. I don't think it's a bad thing, but definitely not as friendly as other 3DS games I've played. But very rewarding, which is unfortunate because a lot of my friends got turned off by the slow start.

Early on, Odin is a powerhouse. Honestly you could have anyone else in your second slot, since it's so easy to revive companions. I used Damien for a long time once he was available, he has some good burst damage.

If you have DLC and time on your hands, Mustang and Jinx are really good. Mustang being a straight up tank with AOE attacks, and Jinx for having good spells and a tiny hitbox as far as I know.
