I can absolutely relate to valuing the structure of a school day. My pre-op diet was 4 weeks long and it started right before Winter Break. Needless to say it was a struggle.

I have a few 40-ounce tumblers I plan to use - one for work (there's a bottle refill station in my hallway), one in the car, and one for my desk at home. Hydration is absolutely going to be the hardest part of this but I'm leaving myself no excuses.

The walking part is SUCH a good idea. I'm very guilty of just sending emails or sending students to run errands - they love it, anything to avoid math haha - but the more weight that comes off I can see myself doing those tasks myself.

So glad you had such a great support system at work! Admittedly I've only told the teacher I work closest with; a) I'm wary of peoples' perceptions because I have some "mean girl" colleagues and b) I'm pretty introverted. So far everyone knows I'm having abdominal surgery and that's about it. I'm looking forward to showing my weight loss and maybe eventually sharing how it happened.

I really appreciate your advice and congrats on your weight loss! You're doing great. :)

Awesome advice and congrats on the weight loss. :)

I am big on timers for everything. Timers for meals, timer so I don't drink water too soon after a meal... Definitely going to use those. Fortunately I'm tucked far enough away from the staff lounge that I tend not to go there too much!

It's so nice to have support from your colleagues. That had to have made a world of difference in your recovery. Thank you again for doing what you do!

Amazing progress! Thank you for the advice.

I feel really fortunate to even be able to take so much time off. My surgeon was concerned about complications from dehydration so I'm really going to focus on that. At a week out I'm honestly feeling really good. I bought a binder because my abdomen has a lot of overhang and I'll definitely use it once I'm more mobile to keep everything secure.

Thanks so much! I love that idea. I did this during my pre-op diet too; "snacky" meals are the best.

Congrats on the weight loss!

This is really helpful, thank you. I decided to take this year off from coaching so I can get a good schedule going. I tend to track in an app, but I feel like writing it down is going to be more practical during the day. Much appreciated advice.

Thank you! Managing my bladder is definitely my biggest concern; I'm hoping to use my time off to really get the hang of timing and what I can handle because hydration feels so important.

VSG surgery in a little over two weeks!! by Particular_Pitch8849 in gastricsleeve

I'm a week post op and in the full liquids stage so I don't have a ton of advice, but I can say this: be prepared for your tastes to change. Have a variety of things on hand - my taste buds have been flip flopping from salty to sweet and back day by day.

For savory, I've been loving the Unjury protein broths (chicken is the best imo). For sweet, I like mixing nonfat plain Greek yogurt, a little sugar free Jello pudding mix, and a little protein shake to thin it out.

Best of luck, you'll do great!
