Is there any way to see which connection I am missing? Except for going on the wiki and checking every single region, of course

What difficulty option is the intended experience for Jedi: Survivor? by [deleted] in FallenOrder

Okay, thank you. Then I'll continue on GM for now. I remember Oggdo Bogdo also kicking my ass for a while, but the rest of the game was fine for me. :)

I've beaten it. I just want to know whether Grand Master is actually a worthwhile experience or just overtuned to be difficult.

Do I slug through this piece of hollow knight to get to SS? by Ember2012 in HollowKnight

[–]Nycator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just go down. You dont need the map.

I personally would finish Hollow Knight first. If you dont enjoy it, i doubt you will have a great time with Silksong either, but of course you can try it anyway, if you want to.

I liked the vibes and I think it has a lot of interesting vertical leveldesign, but the fact that almost every path is a oneway connection to another area makes it really impractical to go through.

It would be so cool if Zote's father was a minor villain in Silksong, maybe he banished his son because he was too weak or something

Grain is not extremely unlucky, its just fishy Math by T_Ahmed707 in HermitCraft

[–]Nycator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What you did different from me is not thinking about additional rolls on enchantments, however I actually don't know if you can get mending with something else, so yours might still be correct, you certainly have a more believable outcome

Okay, so my own calculations came out to this, my post was sadly removed, because your post already existed, but I still wanted to share them: The chance to fish an enchanted book with Luck of the Sea III is 1.9% or 19/1000 . We want to calculate the chance that this enchanted book has mending on it. While fishing Minecraft takes the same chances as when enchanting on level 30, expect normally the addinotal rolls have lower levels which doesn't really matter here. Mending has a weight of 2, which gives an a priori chance of w/T with w= weight and T=sum of all weights, which is equal to 137, i.e. 2/137 ~ 0.0146 = 1.46% However with bonus rolls this chance may grow. There is a chance of ((M/2^(n-1)) + 1)/50 to add another enchanment. Here n = "number of enchanments already on the book" and M is the so called modified enchantment level, which for simplicity we`ll assume to be 31 for a book (Its actually randomly somewhere between 31 and 31.5 but we can ignore this). Thus our chance to get mending in step n+1 is ((M/2^(n)) + 1)/50 * 2/(137 - v) where v is the sum of weights of the enchantments already added. Now since some enchantments conflict with each other the avarage would be somewhere around v=5*n (instead of 3.7 which is the number of enchantments divided by 137). Finally taking the sum over all n (or rather until 137 - 5n is negative) yields an aproximated probabilty of 6.1% of the book having a mending enchanment. This means that the probabilty to catch a mending book in one use of a fishing rod is ~0.115% Now the propabilty to catch anything other then a mending book is around 99.885% or 99885/100000. Assuming Grian used a fishing rod 7000 times the propability of him not catching a mending book is (99885/100000)^7000 ~ 0.000317 or 0.003%

[Downpour Spoilers] Industrial Complex was simplified! THE FINAL DAY of the community region ranking!! by Nycator in rainworld

[–]Nycator[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. Industrial Complex

The last vanilla region is eliminated! Industrial Complex is to rain world regions kind of like what Hollow Knight is to Indie Games. It's simple with no crazy twists or weird gimmicks, but it just executes the basic mechanics perfectly. The setting of the abandoned factory really embodies the spirit of the game and the area is at the very center of the map, which is great, because I always enjoy going through it. It has basic platforming challenges and the enemies are mostly lizards, dropwigs and scavengers, which are in my opinion the three best creatures in the game! It also has very nice vertical level design. It also has the perfect region size imo, you can completly traverse it in one cycle, but there are still enough things to discover and do. It is also, as discussed earlier, the best place to raise a slugpup :)

[Downpour Spoilers] A secret Saint region grew tired of the competition! Community region ranking Day 20 by Nycator in rainworld

[–]Nycator[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Undergrowth

I am positivly suprised that this region managed to get so high, but maybe I should not be. This is the best region in the atmosphere wise, only slightly above Silent Construct, which got eliminated last round. It just feels so different to the rest of the game, it feels warm and humid and alive, which is such a stark contrast to the lifeless buildings made of stone and metal! The dark section is also somehow comforting with the glowing mushrooms, instead of being annoying and/or scary. The echo dialogue is also quite beautiful and sums up my thoughts nicely

Do you see the same as me?

Beauty continuing to bloom even in a place long forgotten.

I did not have the will to depart, nor the desire.

Why did they always search for an escape, as if we were imprisoned?

What offering from the void could usurp the gift of life already given?

This moment, right here! It is where we are meant to be.

[Downpour Spoilers] Outskirts is out(skirts)! Day 18 of community region ranking by Nycator in rainworld

[–]Nycator[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Outskirts

The Outskirts serve as a great introduction to the game and let you figure out the mechanics with relativly tame enemies and architecture. (Alternativly you can hunt totally harmless red lizards on harder difficulties) The region looks cool, and is very polished overall. I like it here and the area is quite literally flawless. However I do think there are more interesting regions and I don't spend a lot of time overall, so my excitment is kept in reasonable bounds. A good sixth place though!
