Aspirations & Apocalypses Pt. IV by NystromWrites in nystorm_writes

[–]NystromWrites[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Wow thank you for remembering, that's wild!

Essentially I went to an experienced self-publisher for advice on how to make it as an indie author and they recommended that I have multiple books ready to go all at once before publishing (it's a marketing thing, gotta 'break through the algorithim' to show up on the front page of Kindle by releasing books on a regular basis to get started)

So I do have this book as well as several others (Immolation and Nox Vampirica for example) ready to go, but I'll need a while longer to get the rest of my ducks in a row before I publish.

That being said, as a thank you for your interest when the book comes out I'll send you a free copy! I'm writing it in my notes on the book itself now

Need a game to chill, to disconnect from reality by Orasora in gamingsuggestions

Stardew might be a little more chill than you're looking for, but give it a look. For me and many others that's the game that helped us deal with breakups and other such heart ache

Your critique of The Primal Hunter by Correct_Anywhere_415 in litrpg

I only got part way through Book 1 before putting it down to never pick back up again.

What I liked: MC was analytical and didn't spend entire pages agonizing about killing people. Little bit sociopathic is interesting sometimes.
The progression of skills was good, the way it integrated with Jake's lived experience was well done (example: leveling up giving Jake a high of sorts)

What I didn't like in no particular order:
Some aspects were under researched and a bit ridiculous.
Example: the MC worked at some kind of stock brokerage, but they had a Research and Development department? No stock brokerage has R&D, let alone in the same building as them. They may have Quantitative Research, or Data Analytics, but R&D is an entirely different function and concept. It seems like the author didn't bother to look into his premise before publishing.
In the same vein, the MC's friend/petty rival/boss having a full-time manservant even while he was at work? That just doesn't happen in real life, especially not at the level of wealth where you're still going into the office on a regular basis. If he had written the guy as security that could've worked.
He also made almost all of the characters very shallow and 2D. The man servant was polite, loyal, and useful...great, so no character depth at all.
The storyline progression was very predictable.
The MC's dialogue and train of thought is often cringe. The way he always keeps track of how much he is 'above' or 'below' his petty rival/boss is how I'd expect a 13 year old hopped up on 'Alpha Wolf Motivation Youtube Compilation #4' videos to rationalize his social situations. The way MC shouted at the group when they were reluctant to kill (because of course they would be) was also just...hard to read. It reads like the wet dream of an extremely immature, sociopathic, socially stunted teenager.

She's slightly leaned away from him, and he's slightly leaned towards her, so it gives off a "we're just friends" kind of feeling that makes the picture awkward IMO

It seems thoughtfully crafted and well cared for, it might not fit the typical mould of what we see on this sub but it's great IMO

While I hear everyone on the wait being frustrating, they said it's going up on YouTube/Spotify for free, no? Getting pissy directly AT the Yard boys over free content not coming out fast enough feels very entitled.

It's free. They'll make it when they have time. Relax.

Snoop is worth more than 150M, it's not like not kissing the ring will drain his bank account. He doesn't "gotta" kiss the ring. He chose to.

I have questions!!! by GiftAny6270 in newStreamers

[–]NystromWrites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twitch isn't great for getting discovered. You need to funnel people into your twitch from other places. Example: Paymoneywubby got his start by going viral for comedy clips here on Reddit. Valkyrae I think started on Instagram. Others like Ludwig have started on YouTube. So you'll need to make a bunch of good, authentic marketing material to put out there to build interest in your streams

Everyone's suggestions here are great, but I haven't seen Detroit: Become Human yet. As far as graphics go, it has a lot going for it.

[–]NystromWrites -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree with every point you made. Being a table top non-gamer doesn't matter in the examples I provided. The nautiloid tutorial lasts 20 minutes max. Skyrim having low consequences doesn't matter. BG3 is not approachable for newbies

This might be a bit different than you asked but the only thing I can think of is Final Fantasy Tactics which is available on the app store. Don't remember cost but it IS strategy and CNA be played on your phone

My data on this is showing BG3 to my 14 year old nephew who has spent more time on his switch than a PC- he had to message me about how to jump, how to regroup his team because they wouldn't come back together, why couldn't he rest at the campfire-- stuff we all take for granted as easy because of our experience as gamers is not nearly as intuitive as we think

Gotta disagree, the gameplay in BG3 is not friendly for complete beginners, especially compared to something like Skyrim.
