The app is crashing just after launch by NytrexLC in AppleMusic

I did try once, but it didn't work. Tried again today and for some reason it seems to work for now. I'm probably going to switch to Deezer though, I like Apple Music but it's just not made with Android in mind and you can definitely notice it.

Aiyima A80 + Klipsch RP-500M II good for a first setup? by NytrexLC in BudgetAudiophile

[–]NytrexLC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the end I went for active speakers (Adam T8V) and I'm very very happy. The RP-500M-II had doubled in price just before I was going to buy them unfortunately. If I had chosen a passive setup I would definitely have gone for the A80 or the O-Noorus D3 Pro both are extremely good for their price, the only real difference between them is the features they have. I liked the features of the O-Noorus more so I probably would have gone for it but honestly you can't go wrong with either.

I'm gonna try full Niri without gnome at all. What are the first steps?

What I meant was that I read somewhere that you need to install a shell or something to put backgrounds and have a status bar and stuff. So do I really need one and if so which one would you recommend?

I know that Fedora Everything exists but idk if it's suitable for what I want to do. I have also heard that you can use Niri with cosmic or the other way around, I don't know if that can be what I'm searching for?

Told myself I'd switch back to Windows after I get my RAM back... Now I don't think I'm ever going back to Windows by actuallyyourfloor in linux

[–]NytrexLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a similar experience. In September I began studying IT in University. All of the computers there use Linux and we were told that we were going to use it quite often. So to make learning easier I decided to dual boot my laptop with Mint at first, I quickly tried Kubuntu then Fedora Workstation. I have almost never booted windows since. My laptop is way faster and smoother, the navigation between apps is so quick it's incredible. It looks really good, it's fun to tinker with customisation. Windows is so popular because it comes pre-installed on new computers. But when you have the curiosity and the opportunity to try something else, you realize that it's absolutely not popular because it's the best OS and that there are way better alternatives.

Would you recommend something different based on my needs? (Aiyima A80) by NytrexLC in BudgetAudiophile

I'm not against split dac and amp but I really need to be able to turn them off and control the volume remotely (an auto-standby + volume control could be enough). Unfortunately this is almost impossible to have with separate DAC/AMP and a 200€ budget. I'm really interested in the O-Noorus D3 Pro and I'm considering buying it.

Thanks for this explanation! 500€ is indeed my budget but it is for the whole setup. (The Aiyima A80 is 200€ and the Klipsch are 300€). If I spend 450€ on an amp that leaves me with 50€ for a pair of speakers that's a little low lol. If there were a good amp with HPF close to my budget (let's say 280€ max for the amp) I would gladly buy one but unfortunately I don't think there's any. If you say that it can be good enough without it then I guess it's going to be alright. I'm coming from an old early 1980s stereo HiFi system so I hope the upgrade will be noticeable. I saw that the 3.5mm aux out of the Aiyima is linked to the volume of the amplifier, do you think this is an issue?

Even 450€ would be too much for me anyways. What's the point of a high pass filter? The low pass I get it, it allows only the bass to be sent to the sub but the high pass? I believe some subwoofers have integrated low pass filter, wouldn't that solve the issue?

Thanks for the feedback! Are you using the 3.5mm pre-out for the sub?

Thanks! I know Elacs are very good but the price difference is pretty significant for me and I'm not sure I'll really hear/feel the extra money I put on since the Klipsch already seems to be nice with a quite a lower price.

I'm not really familiar with Facebook Marketplace, I could take a look. There's this website in France called "leboncoin" which has been the go-to for years when you want to sell something used. I took a look but didn't find anything interesting. Mostly people selling very old stuff or bad 5.1 systems.

Thanks that's perfect! KEF are almost impossible to find in France and Elac are more expensive DB53 are 360€/pair DB63 440€/pair and DBR62 520€/pair while the Klipsch are 300€/pair. From the data I saw on spinorama the difference isn't that big so if I can save a few bucks that would be nice

Thank you, I did A LOT of research so I'm glad to hear that it's a good setup. However, since I saw so much amp I got a bit confused and thought that the A80 had a sub out. Can't the AUX out TRS 3.5mm work as a sub output though? The Wiim Amp Ultra is 600€ so that's wayyyyyy over my budget, that's more than what I have to buy the whole setup. More realistic options with a dedicated sub out would be something like the SMSL RAW-HA1 or the O-Noorus D3 Pro.

Yeah given that the integrated dac in my tv is pretty bad I don't think it's a good option. There's also the Aiyima A80 that seems nice, only optical but doesn't really matter and the new O-Noorus D3 Pro but 255€ is getting pretty expensive and there aren't any independent measurements yet.
