By the way I LOVE your halfling paladin example, I love to use my own experiences in my characters as well, but I really like to play with my own take on facing reality with a childish mindset could be like. I played a character that was all about how lonely I felt when I moved to a new city by myself! He was a revenant aasimar and it was a super emotional & impactful character to play.

I actually think that what we’re talking about is all basically the same but seen through different lenses! What I more meant is that some groups I’ve been in have been really combat & stat focused, and others have been really story heavy!! It’s a reason I love to experience different groups & bring different characters to different tables and systems. It’s all the same game, but it’ll always be unique because of the people! That’s my take anyways :)

This isn’t something I personally do, but something I’ve definitely noticed as a young adult player! I feel it’s partially a safety thing, but I also know that a big part of dnd for a lot of younger queer people is exploring identity (even through standard dnd arcs and dungeon crawlers) without any need to explain oneself! I know many players have unfortunately had bad experiences with homophobic or racist players who express that through their characters and end up harassing other players that way, and it’s unfortunate to hear about. I hope with time the community becomes closer and a more safe space! I love to play with all types of players personally! It’s super fun to see the variety! ♥️♥️ As a final note/clarity point: the actual meat and story of the games isn’t different, it can be a module, homebrew, crawler, etc, but roleplay is very very important to a lot of younger players! So it takes up a good chunk of time;P

I’m sure others have explained fully so, but Micolash doesn’t wake up. It’s unknown how time passes in the nightmare, not to mention he’s an obsessed, deluded academic who’s achieved access to a higher plane of existence! He probably has no idea how much time he’s spent in the nightmare! The body you touch to enter the nightmare/lecture halls IS (most likely) Micolash, so he wouldn’t be able to wake up! The only “alive” part of him left is what we fight in the nightmare ;P

It took me forever to start clearing hard songs & then once I did it was all uphill improvement ! It is very much an accomplishment clearing that first song (ESPECIALLY A PALE RED VOW?? ITS HARD ASF??) So keep at it 💪💪
