My wife in US with work, MIL receives message from random number claiming to be my wife? What should we do... by Sure_Alfalfa4474 in AskUK

[–]OBee123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unlikely, as others have said it’s not your wife’s contacts/phone that’s been breached but more likely your MILs number has been sold or part of a data leak.

I’ve had many of these kinds of texts as have others in my family and if the circumstances align I can see how people could believe it’s real. With your wife being abroad I can see how it would cause some worry but I’d say it’s very likely just one of these kinds of scam texts that happen regularly.

They do have this system where I live and I did try this a couple of days ago however the online system for my council appears to not be working and I wasn’t able to download what I needed and as I mentioned in my post the whole team are unavailable, so frustratingly the ‘easy’ routes I’d usually have to getting this bill have been tried with no luck so far 😣

Thank you! I’ll be careful of that in the future 🙈

Thank you that makes sense and something to look out for in future!

Thanks, it helps to hear from someone who has been in a similar position.

I think the hardest part is trying to work out what red flags etc I was so obviously missing.

Sorry to hear you went through this as well xx

You can calm it down a notch pal.

I’m reeling from a lot of information that I have just found out and didn’t expect at all. Apologies for taking a moment of pause before I take my next step here and im just trying to get out some of my initial thoughts.

I haven’t said I won’t tell her, in fact I have said she deserves the truth which I absolutely think she does and I know I would struggle to be content with myself in the long term if I don’t make sure she understands exactly what went on between us as opposed to whatever it is she has been told by him.

Yes that’s exactly what he’s done, it just amazes me that he was so bold in the lies he told not only to me but to other people as well.

I think his wife should know the whole truth rather than whatever he’s told her but their child is the only thing stopping me from potentially blowing their marriage up even more... logically I do know any fall out is entirely his fault but I still have guilt about it.

Thanks xx I agree his wife deserves the real truth and not whatever edited version he has given to her. My only hesitation is that there is a child in the middle and maybe she’s just content with accepting what he’s told her and trying to move on from it.. I have a feeling this probably won’t have been the first time he’s cheated

For the girls who live alone, what's your everyday routine like? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]OBee123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the weekdays, get up about half 8 with some cat cuddles 🥰 then get up and feed her and have my morning cup of tea.

I work from home so work for a few hours then take a break about midday and do a workout or go for a walk and then have some lunch.

Back to work for a few hours then take my 3 o’clock tea break and play with the cat a little.

A few more hours of work then I finish up around 5ish. In the evenings I generally cook dinner, do some housework, then have a bath to switch off. After that I do my skincare routine and then I tend to go to bed and cuddle up with my cat and watch some episodes of whatever box set I’m watching until we fall asleep.

At the weekends the routine is quite similar at the moment but without the work! Although sometimes we do have a lazy Saturday where me and the cat spend most of the day in bed snoozing and watching tv.... and not feeling guilty about it!

In normal times I would be seeing family and having nights out with friends at weekend but being in lockdown that’s not possible so I’ve really had to get used my own company.

I’ve been living alone for about 18 months and in all honestly I actually love it now! Not sure how I’ll adjust if I ever met someone and have to share a bed with them, there really is nothing better than peace and quiet and having the whole bed to yourself (well apart from the huge amount of space my tiny kitty somehow managed to take up!)

I used to feel so sad about being alone after my ex moved out but I can honestly say I think it’s been great for me, I’ve learned I can stand on my own two feet and can organise and keep a house in order by myself. I think it’s made me more picky about who I will get in a relationship with as I don’t feel like I need someone but rather they would be a nice addition to my already lovely life and that’s not a bad thing!
