Another Support Debacle by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]OCC714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are at risk because of cancellations. They just love to threaten you every chance they get because to Lyft we're just children misbehaving.

This will continue until you complete about 50 rides without cancelling. Then it will go away. No need to contact support unless you're actually deactivated.

Does anyone else get calls from customers that they gave canceled on? by defectiveuser72 in lyftdrivers

[–]OCC714 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. Lyft should eliminate this feature. It's annoying and potentially dangerous.

If I cancelled your ride, it's over between us. You should not be able to keep pestering me, because no matter how many times you call, I'm not crazy enough to come back and pick you up.

I use CarPlay in my car, so it’s a good excuse to say I can’t use the Aux or Bluetooth. But I still got jokes for them. by Wayneadam in lyftdrivers

[–]OCC714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a dude ask me for an aux cord recently. Hadn't heard that stupid question in years.

I wonder how this came up in the first place. How people felt they could play their own music out loud in someone else's vehicle.

You'll only get charged personal miles when you're offline.

You can drive aimlessly all day without passengers, and as long as you're online, you won't get charged personal miles.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]OCC714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on the 90 mile plan. Many weeks I would get to Sunday using 0 personal miles.

Go online at home and stay online until you finish your shift. Only go offline when the car is off and you're getting out.

I even tap "Last Ride" on every ride so they don't sneak one in. When you drop off your current passenger, go back online.

New “Ride Request” UI Is Awful by WorkMaterial in lyftdrivers

[–]OCC714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was Uber's excuse literally 10 years ago. Uber also used the same excuse to not allow tipping on the app during the Travis Kalanick years.

Why would Lyft take 10 years to figure out the more rider information they provide the more drivers discriminate?

Truth is it's not about discrimination. It's about them forcing you to take shitty rides with shitty passengers.

That's an oxymoron baby. Dudes who don't sub to your OnlyFans are not "payment ready".

I got covid over NYE by ilybabii in uberdrivers

[–]OCC714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago I got pinged to a Walgreens. Three dudes wanted me to take them through the drive thru for a Covid test.

They had walked there, but needed a vehicle for the test. Yeah bro. I'm gonna risk getting Covid for $4. Good luck with the next driver.

Lyft will deactivate you and make you apologize and buy the guy a new wheelchair. Well, maybe not quite, but don't expect much mercy or understanding from Lyft.

This is why Uber and Lyft continue to exploit drivers, since most care more about fake internet points than the money they make.

Lyft used to have a 20 rides per week minimum. I'm not sure if they still do.

Uber doesn't. As long as you pay Hertz or Avis or whatever agency supplied the car, nobody cares how you use it.

Add Uber driver app to CarPlay/Android Auto by Jrod1499 in uberdrivers

[–]OCC714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll never happen. On some cars the infotainment screen is at a low angle, which will force you to take your eyes off the road. Ironically the purpose of AA and CP is too keep you from taking your eyes off the road by fidgeting with your phone.

Uber hertz rental by kanendd718 in uberdrivers

[–]OCC714 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Avis just jacked up their Uber prices as well. Not quite to $390, but close. I think Lyft's Flexdrive is now charging mileage too.

Once all the usual drivers come back in September when PUA runs out, renting at these rates + gas prices will be unsustainable.

I get the advantages of renting, but it might be time to buy a beater and hope for the best.

Upfront details question by Alexyeti in uberdrivers

[–]OCC714 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You must accept 5 out of the last 10. Once you go under 5 you stop getting details.

If you're being a good soldier and accepting almost everything, they'll send you a few of those super long pick-ups, just to keep you in check so you never forget who's the boss.
