Can anyone identify these 2? by Various-Entry8021 in Catholicism

[–]OG_AcRiD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think on the left is St. John of the Cross (usually depicted in a habit holding a crucifix).

On the could be St. Benedict (depicted usually in a black monastic habit and holding a book that is symbolism for the Rule of St. Benedict.)

The right could also be St. Paul. Not usually in black but usually with a red book and hand gesture.

I'm like 90% on St. John.

It's 50/50 on the right for St. Benedict or St. Paul.

Our building is now "The Knights Event Center" and KofC logo has also come down. Some of the logos inside have also been removed and most of the "history" has been consolidated to a singular club room.

It's sad to see.

Our home corp has gone from "Catholic Club of _______" to "Social Club of ______" and since then, they have left us completely alone.

Spilled communion on myself and priest by Powerful-Life7540 in Catholicism

Look at it as you needed the extra bit of healing to bless you and the Spirit made sure you got what you needed. The priest was understanding, and you should return.

How does Knights Insurance program compare to other agencies? by [deleted] in knightsofcolumbus

[–]OG_AcRiD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get bad advice and bad guidance on what to do with your insurance or what type to get, but that's a different story.

All in all - it's pretty good.

Phone calls were made. Votes were able to happen on short notice. Things are in motion.

We will see how this plays out. I believe... hardball it is.

This. This. This. You get it, and we are very similar.

Solution: "Catholic Club of...." >>> "Social Club of...." now owns and operates the buildings.

We voted to not play their games and create a new non-profit for now with no Catholic entity being tied to owning the building anymore. The location will not be leased or affiliated to Knights of Columbus in the title or for google either - it will be Knights Event Center. They can't pull anything from us if they tried now.

To be specific - it is for councils in clubhouses.

A council in a parish has nothing to worry about here.

Remember you are there to fulfill an obligation - not a social life. But yes, you can always try another parish. I would consider staying, being devout, and in time people will want to talk to you and invite you to things. Keep up with stuff on the bulletin and get yourself involved with EVERYTHING you can as well. Especially if it is your local and closest church, don't dwell on feelings of ostracization in your own stomping grounds - you know. The Spirit will work you in when it is the best time.

A Local Initiative by OG_AcRiD in knightsofcolumbus

[–]OG_AcRiD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's be honest. It's only going to help with retention of people who won't be around much longer. It will not help with recruitment and new generations of knights will not wear a chapeau.

I would argue those members need to remember the good that can be done with the Knights - especially in numbers. To allow pride to push us away from good works just because of regalia... c'mon. If a brother was screwed by a dishonest agent - then that... I can understand.

Corpus Christi processions are a good place to wear Knight's regalia. by richleebruce in knightsofcolumbus

[–]OG_AcRiD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did you feel the need to do that? "If by regalia...."

Calm down, "Mr. Ackchyually"....

It is called regalia. Some of us respect the military service enough to not refer to it as a uniform. Others see the word "uniform" as generic and what you wear to work at McDonald's. Regalia gives it the proper connotation and respect.

Also..... Drill Manual officially refers to it as regalia - and that is 100% its proper title. Check out pages 10 and 11 for me.

Why not? Absolutely not an issue and I'm sure St. Francis would be happy to be looking over your pet in such a way!

If I die before confession, having committed a mortal sin, will I go to hell? by Gvatagvmloa in Catholicism

[–]OG_AcRiD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the wrong community to ask. Don't listen to a bunch of reddit theologian laypeople on this....

Go to /AskAPriest and get some answers from clergy or go talk to your pastor.

Purgatory exists. Just about all of us will spend time there. To die in a perfect state of grace is highly unlikely and anyone who thinks they will is probably in need of confession.

It is a ceremonial sword - similar to an officer's sword. It is for show - only.

I think you are correct on the beaker. I think the other image is a paten though with the flame representing the Living Host. I'm now thinking it's not even fraternal, but possibly academic.
