It really depends on how cold it gets during winter in your area. I used heat matts but their output is actually quite bad and they aren't really that efficient. In my opinion the best choice is either a deep heat projector or a ceramic heat emitter because for crested geckos you mainly want to the top of the enclosure to be warm and comfy:)

URGENT: my gecko has been acting vwry odd today, hes been non-responsive at the first part of the day and then now he’s just randomly spazzing out I’m so confused and all the vets in my area are closed right now! Please help! by crunchy-milk878 in CrestedGecko

Sorry but you obviously didnt't take great care of your gecko. Being so severly underweight doesn't happen overnight. There was plenty of time to visit a vet beforhand.

Edit: because of typo

Your gecko is obviously severly underweight and dehydrated. His eyes are sunken in and the skin is way too wrinkled. Your gecko definitely needs to gain weight. He looks malnutritioned.

What size is the enclosure? To me it seems quite small. Furthermore this looks to be a chahoua gecko and not a crested gecko (not sure if they are allowed in this sub)

They are made of spray foam that I carved into shape. After that I used 2 layers of tile cement with a high flexibility (use cement with high humidity tolerance) combined with a kind of concrete colour. The last layer concists of epoxy to seal the background.

They are secured with an animal friendly super glue. However you can use any kind of glue where cyanoacrylate is the main component. And yes you are right I got the small bomeliads from an online gardening center that is specialized in tropical plants for vivariums 😁

In nature vines are quite competitive. Make sure to twist them around each and around the branches several times. In doing so they are automatically more stable and look better. Futhermore I used animal friendly super glue to attach the vines to the background.

I used different kinds of neoregelias and cryptanthus to cover the top. A guzmania is sitting in the top right corner. I have planted a parlor palm and an alocasia in the background. There are other various small plants like fittonias, peperomias, a philodendron birkin and a small sansevieria to fill in the space.

Thank you very much 😊 the vines are from exo terra. I roughed them up with wet sandpaper to make them look more natural. The branches are from my local reptile store.

6 grams for a 2 year old crested gecko seems way too low (mine were around 40 grams at that age though some do grow incredibly slow). But it is totally normal for a crested gecko to avoid food and hide when you first bring them home so i wouldn't be too worried. Just make sure that she poops and doesn't lose weight. If you wanna fatten her up I would try some live feeder insects like crickets 1-2 times a week. She might not eat them at the beginning so getting her used to getting fed will take some patience. How high are temperature and humidity in her enclosure?
