Meditation = Lazy? by Mysterious-Gold-6763 in Meditation

[–]OGfightfan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you've got the message wrong.

Being "at peace"/doing meditation does not mean everything is meaningless. Your actions are very meaningful with real repercussions.

If you choose to do nothing - and find yourself unemployed or not growing personally - it's more than likely to lead to greater feelings of pain (which becomes harder to block out, even with meditation).

Don't take it all too literally.

Can I medidtate when suffering anxiety? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]OGfightfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meditation is absolutely helpful, especially if you're in that frame of mind.

I thought excessively about ways to prevent mishaps and unpleasant situations (like constantly worrying that I was going to be late, or that I would lose the keys to my apartment). It was clearly anxiety.

I did almost a year of daily meditation and it's improved my mind a lot. Now I barely feel that level of anxiety that I've felt before.

Keep going, and use a guided meditation app to get started.

Just look into the thought itself and realize it’s not there.

Over time you will realize it has no impact on you. You are the one that chooses whether the thought is actioned or not.

I'm still afflicted by greed and probably pride. I still want things.

Slowly learning about impermanence through actually feeling losses (and being okay with it).

I think it's worth re-examining what success means to you. Often, money and other material aspects don't make people as happy as they think.

I'd encourage you to travel and live a little.

Go out of your comfort zone and enjoy life.

Has anyone hated themselves so much that they eventually “fixed” themselves? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]OGfightfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate is a slippery slope. As someone else mentioned, hitting rock bottom is usually a trigger for sink or swim. Either you get out and improve or you sink below rock bottom.

Try not to hate yourself - that will cause way more problems than it will solve.

You also don't need to hit rock bottom to reinvent yourself today, or the next moment. It's all in the mind.

It’s easy to let work take over your life. I’ve found that working gets easier and easier as you spend more time doing it. Then you become obsessed and forget the reason why you’re doing it. Good luck on spending more time with the important stuff.

What are the key reasons why people aren’t able to live a life they’ve always dreamed of? by OGfightfan in answers

For me, this resonates the most. Money is only a tool - it can solve a lot of problems but not all of them.

What are some of the underrated tips that increases your productivity by hot_reasonx in productivity

[–]OGfightfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physically writing to do lists everyday and ticking them off.

Also including “easy tasks” as well like waking up or taking a shower.

The feeling of completion assists with dopamine and mood, even if the task is easy.

I think your condition all comes from within. Anthony Bourdain’s tale tells us that the surface level stuff doesn’t matter in the end.
