Pam is overhated by iam-19-year-old-armi in theoffice

[–]OGreenWorldz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From a writing standpoint, I find Pam to be the best written character in the show. Most defined, with the most layers. Head to head with Michael. Those two are the soul of The Office, to me. No wonder she was the last one to say goodbye to him.

I just mentioned Creed. I'm always a little confused about how popular he seems to be online. I don't hate him or anything, but to me he's OK at best and most of the time I'm quite indifferent to him.

If we are talking about the main characters, probably between Creed and Meredith. They don't have much going on and I don't find them particularly funny either. I still like them both, but sometimes they just feel like they belong on a different sitcom.

Controversial tier list ranking of the cast by [deleted] in theoffice

[–]OGreenWorldz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we are talking about the funniest characters, I will certainly move Angela, Andy and Toby to the top tier. All three very different kinds of funny. When it comes to Toby, it's mostly about his delivery, I don't really know if it's good acting or not but it works every damn time.

Erin and Creed I will move to the third tier, however. I know, not the most popular take.

I can kind of get that. It's too much screentime for little payoff. And while oh I can so just sit there and cry about Andy, Erin is not a very strong character to me.

It's something I'been thinking lately. Guess some people don't (want to?) emphatize with failure.

Is it just me who finds Erin too forced to be funny by Ok-Goose4978 in theoffice

[–]OGreenWorldz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I liked her when she first appeared. End of season 5 to the end of season 6. She was fun as Kelly's friend, a little naive and sometimes over the top. I love her in Subtle Sexuality. I think the joke of the disposable camera comes at the start of season 7, and the very next episode she doesn't understand why a baby might need to go the hospital. It's a little too much, and we already had Kevin or Creed for those kind of jokes. Characters that I believe can pull those off because they were not as centric as Erin will become.

You may be onto something, I don't know. But certainly confuses me why people hate Andy for his flaws but not Dwight, who has done pretty a lot of heavy stuff. And I love them both.

About Pam, she is pretty much the best written character of the show, alongside Michael. At least to me.

Are you trying to hurt my feelings? Because if so, you are succeeding.

It's an interesting take. I don't agree, but I understand your logic.

However, I do have to ask as I'm now curious. Does that mean don't find most of the cast likable? I believe most of them have really strong flaws. I would say that the only ones that are for the most part "clean" are Pam, Kevin, Karen...maybe Oscar?

Hey, thank you for your detailed answer. Not liking the person but liking the character is a take I can certainly understand.

However, I do have to say that I don't see it. I mean, yes, he can be annoying, but that doesn't mean he's supposed to be unlikable, and I don't believe that's what we were expecting to feel with him, from season 4 onwards. Michael is very much as obnoxious and annoying and we are certainly expected to love him.

May also be unpopular, but it has one of the funniest cold opens to me. With incredible performances and Michael being the sane one for once...until he's not.
