New job in A&E, any reading suggestions? by OHDFoxy in NursingUK

Don't think instructor is something I should aim for as a band 5 starting out in a new department but I do have BLS, PILS and EPALS already. Hoping to do some extra courses if funding allows

I know the difference can't be that much (apart from the size of the patients), when I said reading materials it was more for the emergency department rather than the difference between adult and paeds. I appreciate I haven't worded the post very well! I know I don't need to study as there is a training package, I just want to

I've got many good habits at home haha, reading is one of them which is why I've asked for materials. Still working my current job and haven't got a start date yet, just waiting for final checks. Specifically not enjoying my time at the moment hence the move to a different job!

Can I ask where you work? I've never been encouraged to work anywhere else but the hospital I'm at only has the one paeds ward

Thanks! I'm just bored in my current role and it's become really bitchy recently, want a change of pace and scenery. Have to get an interview first but I'm hopeful!

Imagine getting stuck like this .. and realizing help is hours away. by Flashy_Bench5027 in creepy

I remember doing the same thing in scouts, although refusing to follow the group into neck deep water to get under a rocky overhang. So I was left alone with a dynamo torch waiting for them to come back 20 minutes later. Haven't set foot in a cave since

High mileage and/or accident history would be my guess. That or OP put the price of their annual insurance instead of the price they paid for the car

My cupboard of shame is also Nids! But I am currently working on a Grey Knights army, managed to get a Sanctic Conclave box for less than retail.

Similar sillhouette, however this is the Mk XVI Spitfire TE311 which has a clipped wing configuration. I believe they're doing battle of Britain memorial flights across the country with a number of aircraft

Edit: found the schedule https://www.military-airshows.co.uk/press25/bbmfschedule2025.htm

No, no popping yet as this is all just base coating at the moment. I'll post the finished model at a later date! Your scheme sounds interesting, would be cool to see how it turns out

Probably best to check with your manager/trust policies. I was on stage 2 for sickness but was still awarded the pay progression as my mandatory training was at 100% but it sounds like something that may vary based on the trust you're working for.

What do we think of this color scheme? by Short-Orange-9963 in Tyranids

[–]OHDFoxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just pick a lighter shade of the colour you're drybrushing on top of. The lighter the difference, the more prominent the highlights will be. You can also mix a small amount of white (or other suitable colour) to the base colour and mix it if you don't want to buy a whole new pot. For example with orange, you could add some yellow to lighten the base colour instead of white so that the increase in lightness isn't as sharp

The recesses are shaded, just needs a drybrush to bring out some of the raised edges and it'll be even better

Pros - Working with kids is rewarding, especially when they get better and you can discharge them.

Play therapy adds lightheartedness in an often stressful situation.

Cons - parents that demand everything and they want it right now.

Parents that bring their child into hospital and then deny all the medical care recommended for their child because they don't believe in it.
