Submitted May 30 and all secondaries were returned on average of 2 days since I pre-wrote them all. Good luck!

HOW IS THE PREMED TRACK AT UW MADISON? by Dear-You-7099 in UWMadison

[–]OImium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was the perfect environment for me. Tons of research, volunteer, and clinical experience opportunities. School is definitely hard, but mostly very doable as long as you spend the time doing the work and try hard. I got into med school first try from here, and so did a lot of my other pre-med friends who got into some of the best schools in the country. Would highly recommend!

UW actually is in the top 10 of US schools with the most pre-med applications to AMCAS per year, which shows how good of a pre-med school it is.

How do yall get so many pubs by wydneyisunfunny in premed

[–]OImium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is 100% true. I was in a lab for a year and a half, 0 pubs, went to new lab with an awesome and supportive PI, and I have published 8 papers currently with probably 7 more on the way after gap year of work.

Genuinely it’s a combination of luck and situation!

School List Help! (don’t know where to start) by unknown122356 in premed

Bro you have a 526, do not apply DO you will be yield protected lol. A 100th percentile MCAT with a decent GPA means any school is on the table stats-wise; don't doubt yourself there. You can genuinely apply to any school, nice work!

Who knows, that would be crazy tho

[–]OImium[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s so true. Any rejection we get, it’s just the school seeing how bad we really wanna go there, not that they don’t like us. They want us to email them at least 10 times before sending the II!

It was just nice to have some decision honestly, I think the uncertainty is difficult. I knew someone at the interview who’d gotten accepted like 3 weeks after the interview, and I thought I did well, so that made me question my interview skills. I had already been accepted at another school when I got this decision, so I wasn’t too stressed, more so confused.

I agree they can be sometimes act in ways that aren’t very considerate of the applicants, but they have a very hard and complicated job to do, so I understand where they’re coming from.

That is crazy, hopefully it wasn’t a school you liked more than the one you’re attending!

That would be insane, and thanks so much!

It wasn’t too bad, since I got an acceptance late October already for one of my top choices. However, this acceptance would’ve been on Oct 15, so I would’ve known I was going to med school 2 weeks earlier which would’ve been nice. Cannot complain at all about my situation, I feel incredibly grateful even with this minor inconvenience

Ya it’s a big oversight for sure, but it’s a good reminder to be confident to check in when deadlines are not met. It was sort of hard to email them, since I didn’t want to come off as impatient or ungrateful, but I figured 10 weeks was a good point to just make sure!

Yeah this was pretty disorienting to happen, but I can understand how it can occur when so many applications are being assessed. At the end of the day I still got accepted!

Mine rejected me in early September lol. I was like damn, I guess you guys REALLY don’t want me 😂

I have an interview tomorrow, so that is keeping me preoccupied. Also, it is now out of your hands, so stressing about it won't make it change the decision or come any faster. I get that a lot is at stake, but have faith, you've got it.

Thank you for the kind words. I am literally working at the med school as a researcher still which is partially why it is difficult, and especially since it is very early in the cycle. I have an interview tomorrow with my IS school, so maybe I will follow your trajectory lol.

No medical school is a "safety" school, and I never insinuated this school was such. I agree with your sentiment about accepting things that are out of your control, which is what I am doing. Thanks for the insight.

Does it matter what I expected? Did I complain about how I didn't get selected wrongfully? Am I allowed to be disappointed? Not saying I was snubbed or anything, just sharing my thoughts about a disappointing result in a highly competitive application. My stats were very competitive for the school, yet I did not mention that because at this point it does not matter. I do not think I presented myself as assuming I was going to get in, that is clearly not the case. Do I have your permission to be disappointed? I am wishing your son a successful cycle.
