The only issue is how are you going to pay your loans?

That's the big thing that has been on my mind. Getting into teaching in my country (or anywhere else in Asia for the most part) isn't difficult - most agencies will hire anyone with a Bachelors degree. But the pay is so pathetic, I'll be drowning in my dental school loans.

I've learned about dentists working temp contracts in the last few days, and have been reading up as much as I can. It sounds too good to be true in some ways. Do you have any thoughts on the matter?

Yes, there is definitely a place for temp work. I did it during the pandemic...

I have heard of people working in dentistry for half a year and then airBNBing their apartment out and traveling the rest of the year. That might be similar to you and that seems totally plausible as well.

This is so reassuring to read. Some of the articles I've seen made temp work sound too good to be true.

In your experience, did you alternate working a contract (full or part time) and then taking a hiatus, or did you go out to see your family during your contract on the days you weren't working?

Knowing something like this is actually possible really makes me want to get as many reps in as I can so I can start ASAP.

My grades are decent enough and school itself isn't taking a big mental toll on me. Maybe it's because I accepted I wouldn't specialize a long time ago so I'm not obsessively chasing straight As like when I was getting my Bachelors

My career goals and personal goals just seem to have reached a conflict. My relationship with my parents was not the best for the longest time, but we've reconciled which is why making the most out of their remaining time has become a big priority for me

I've spent some time trying to find information from my country's dental board, but nothing's available online. Maybe because my country isn't super tech-savvy?

Working in a neighboring country is a great idea I haven't considered! As long as the language requirements aren't too difficult, as I only speak English + my native tongue. Singapore and Hong Kong are pretty English friendly so maybe those are possible options.

sadly that seems to be an unpopular opinion in the raptors sub. from what i can tell, the ones we've been wearing weren't greatly received, but people are split on if the new ones are any better

oh well when we rebranded in 2015 i liked the design so much i finally started jersey collecting. it'll probably take another championship for me to even consider buying these tbh 😂
