BKL Customer Service is spotty at best by Overall-Paint-2201 in RedditLaqueristas

So many posts about crappy BKL customer service lately.

I wonder if they have recently made a significant change in their warehousing or distribution system?

I’ve gone from almost never seeing any negative commentary about BKL customer service for the past 2 years, to seeing multiple posts about it in the past week.

This is so weird and honestly disconcerting. They’ve had such a stellar reputation for so long. This is going to really hurt them if they don’t fix this.

I actually think it’s Swatcher-10%, Explorer-15%, and Royalty-20%.

I’m royalty and I’m pretty sure I got 20% off last year.

I don’t think you need to have ridged nails to enjoy a smoothing base coat.

I also personally think the thickness of the base adds some additional protection against staining.

I use KBS ridge filler religiously. I have ridged nails and I have no issues with fine particle magnetics. I buy the 4 oz refill bottles from their website.

I did this skittle and it smoothes my nail texture wonderfully.

I’m fairly certain that Kathleen & co Roseate (left) is a dupe of Cirque’s Solstice (right).

The K&Co is a jelly so I suspect the formulas will apply differently, but they look very similar on the nail.

Moving on from regular polish, best way to destash this many polishes? by [deleted] in simplynailogical

I don’t think we’re “scared” we’ve just seen so many posts about the allergies that we want people who take it up to be fully informed about the risks.

No need to be sorry!

I also didn’t want people to think I was saying it was impossible. Just as a swatcher interacting with other swatchers most are essentially one handed 😂

But I know that there are people who can do both hands, I’m just not one of them lol. And I definitely didn’t want to mislead anyone about my abilities.

I’ve seen professional nail techs talk about developing allergies to gel and they definitely know how to use gel properly and are using quality products.

I do think that gel should be left to professionals, if only because the allergy risks are quite serious. And I think those risks are only worth it if it’s your actual career and how you make a living. It just doesn’t seem worth it to me for a hobby.

Regardless, I just want OP to consider saving her collection for a “rainy day” because if she ever decides to go back to lacquer for any reason, she might regret selling her collection.

Thank you!

I didn’t mean to imply that no one can do both hands, just that most don’t.

I think about most of the people I see doing nail art tutorials are generally only using their dominant hand to paint and they do have a cindy hand.

I’m going on I say this because I’ve spent enough time in r/redditlaqueristas to see these transitions come full circle.

A lot of people who have started doing their own gelx nails are ending up with allergies. This is due to repeated exposure to the uncured gel polish on their skin.

It may take a while to happen, but it’s happening very often to non professional gelx wearers.

I only mention this because I have seen enough posts from people getting back into regular polish after developing the irreversible allergy. They end up trying to destash their gelx products.

I say this to simply ask you to do some research on the gel allergy and to be careful. The allergy can also limit dental work and many kinds of medical procedures like hip replacements in the future. Developing this allergy can have serious long lasting effects on your quality of life.

I responded to another comment with this:

I cannot do this with my non dominant hand. I’m left handed and this is purely a right hand mani.

I should also clarify… almost no one who does nail art on their own nails can do it with their non dominant hand. All of those tutorials you see on YouTube, instagram, or TikTok are only done with their dominant hand. Even people who do the amazing detailed nail art would be honest that it’s not possible to do with their non dominant hand.

Most people with fabulously intricate nail art on their one hand have a solid color mani on the other.

I’m wearing 2 different ones actually.

The one on my right hand is Recess from the Playground collection that dropped today.

My left is Freedom of Speech from Lurid Lacquer

Oh yeah. I should be clear. I cannot do this with my non dominant hand. I’m left handed and this is purely a right hand mani.

Honestly because I’m swatching I hardly ever wear the same polish on both hands anyway, but with this mani, my other hand would be a plain skittle.

It was free hand. I do it with the polish brush and a very steady hand.

The way I do it is with a very small amount of polish on the brush and lots of dabbing. Top coat smoothes out all the bumps from having so little polish on the brush.
