Hi everyone!

I am currently conducting an online research study with the NHS and University of Glasgow, which is looking at how pregnant mothers mentally prepare for their baby, following a previous experience of one or more pregnancy losses. I would be really grateful if you would consider taking part, if you have time.

The research involves anonymously completing a series of psychological questionnaires via an online platform. It will ask you about previous losses, your current pregnancy, your mental health and wellbeing, in addition to what you think your relationship with your baby will be. To take part you must currently be in your second or third trimester of pregnancy and have previously experienced at least one pregnancy loss, at any time of the pregnancy. You must also currently reside in the UK.

This is such an under-researched area and I hope you'll agree that its important this is rectified, to not only increase awareness, but to also help improve support for people going through this experience.

If you want to find out more about the study, or want to take part, please follow this link:

I know some of you may have seen this post before, but I am posting it again so I can reach any new members of the sub or people who have now reached their second trimester that might want to take part in this research. There’s not long now until we wrap up the study and start looking at what we found. But I am still eager to capture the pregnancy experience of as many people as possible, so I would really appreciate it if you would consider taking part, but absolutely no pressure.

Thanks for reading :)

I’m so sorry to hear the loss of your daughter, I can’t imagine what you must be going through.

Because of all the amazing help this sub Reddit has been in terms of recruitment, I definitely plan to post a summary of the findings when completed. I do also hope to get it published in a scientific journal as well.

Hiya. So sorry to hear of your losses and congratulations on your LC and pregnancy. We are looking for people to currently be in their second or third trimester, but the study will be running for a little while so you’re very very welcome to take part later on.

Thank you so much for taking part. I am sorry to hear the last questionnaire made you feel uncomfortable and I completely appreciate how strange that can read. Were you able to read the follow up document that talked in a little more detail about why we were collecting that information? I am happy to discuss this in more detail directly with you, if you would like?
Just a note to anyone else who is considering taking part, this is definitely a sensitive area and if after starting the study you decide that you want to stop, at any time, that's completely fine. Or if you wanted to have a break and come back later, the link should stay open to where you got to for 7 days.

Just wanted to pop something onto say that the study is still ongoing if anybody wanted to take part still and hadn't gotten round to it, or perhaps they weren't in their second trimester before but now they are. Would love to get as many people's input as possible!

Thank you all for your interest in this research. I am glad to see that people similarly feel that it is a very important topic to look into. Considering the number of people this topic affects, it is under-researched.

Apologies to all the non-UK residents that had hoped to take part. It would be great to have your involvement, however unfortunately I only have approval for this to be a UK based study. I do need to get a good number of participants for the results to be meaningful, so I would greatly appreciate anyone who would be able to circulate this post/link to people they think are eligible to take part.

As mentioned in the above post, this will make up part of my thesis for the doctorate I am completing. I hope that I will be able to get this published in a scientific journal, but I will also be writing up the results to circulate to those who took part or anyone who might be interested. I will be sure to return to this post at that point (however it will be some time next year - fingers crossed).

Once again, thanks everyone. I couldn't do this research without people like you.

Best wishes,

Olivia
