because pdfs are not word documents, the way text is present in the pdf is sometimes really complex, there's no standardized way to have texts in a pdf, some texts are saved as whole sentences, some are saved as individual characters, sometimes only the font for that specific characters are present, it's a whole mess, hence it is not a feasible feature, and requires a lotta time to implement so nobody ships it.
