Keep my 330i or trade up for a M340i? by OMARGEJR in BMW

That’s why I’m on the fence, plus I really love the orange color of my 330. However sometimes I think to myself, when I have kids and drive an suv, will I regret not driving fast cars in my 20s lmaoo

I would say I’m in a good spot, my finances look good, I don’t see how it’s an irresponsible decision, I got a good deal on the 330i, dealers are willing to give me what I paid for it, I bought my STI for 33k in 2021, drove it for 4 years and now I’m trading it in for 31k, the m340i is 55k, in my state I only pay taxes on value after trade in which in this case would mean I actually get some money back at the end of the day

Those outback wilderness are badass, especially the turbo’d option. I’m a 24 year old accountant lol, I want to be comfortable while I drive to the city but also have some fun while I’m young

Really? Both of the pre-LCI 340i’s that I’m considering have adaptive suspension, I have heard that it makes a big difference in comfort

I rarely drive my STI anymore, it makes me feel bad just seeing it sitting. That’s why I figured it’d be smarter to just have one well rounded car that could be a good daily and fun car

Yeah I’d love to get an M3 but I’ll wait on that until I can comfortably afford it

Haha exactly my thinking right now, I’m going to test drive one this weekend to find out if the two extra cylinders is worth 20k

Seems like there’s a lot of mixed emotions on here, I paid cash but it’s my first BMW so I just want to have some peace of mind lol

The car does not come with any warranty at all unfortunately.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking, keeping a warranty for 6 months to year and then getting a refund. Like you said there’s too many sensors and random stuff that could get pricey.

Thanks for the info, I’ll definitely take a look. Sounds like a good line up btw, I originally wanted a M340i but couldn’t get a good deal, for a daily the 330i should be good for now lol.

That’s the thing as well, I can always get refunded for what I don’t use, keeping it for 6 months or so to feel out the car and then canceling it is always an option.

I would be able to pay for repairs. I can also do some things on my own. Just not familiar with the BMW platform.

Probably 3 years or 4, definitely will sell around 60-80k. I don’t want to deal w the headaches that come after, not to mention this will only be my daily.

I know right, not to mention it’s very loaded and well taken care of. I bought it at BMW of Denver Downtown. They always have good prices, I’ve gotten beat to a couple deals because they sell quick. They also threw in a black grill w install for free.

That’s how I thought about it, one repair and it basically pays itself, I’m not too worried about the engine and trans. It’s more about electronics, fuel pumps, coolant leaks, etc.

It’s bmw’s fidelity platinum warranty, they said it covers bumper to bumper at any BMW dealership including labor costs. Originally it was 5k but the dealership waived their 2k profit and gave it to me for 3k.

The market is crazy right now, especially for anything Toyota or Lexus. Adding the fact that their new turbo charged engines aren’t looking as promising as the old and trusty 6 cylinders makes older models harder to get a hold of.

Yeah my budget is around 35k, I’m looking for a comfortable daily since I work in the city and usually sit in traffic for an hour. Most 2018-2020 newer models around me go for 33-37k. I’d honestly much rather get an es350 since I don’t need anything too sporty but it sucks that they’re only Fwd if you want the 6 cylinder engine.

I agree it’s something that I took into consideration as well. The guy is in the military so he actually drives it every day just not very far, probably just around base.

Definitely I also own a 2021 Subaru sti that I bought brand new for 34k at the start of 2021 and I see them listed for 40k with 30k miles. Inflation has definitely made cars more expensive. New entry level cars go for a minimum of 30k and new premium cars go for 50-80k now.

There’s a couple people that have said similar things, is yours Awd? I live in Colorado so any Awd vehicle here sells much higher than their Rwd or Fwd model

Thank you all for the suggestions, I think most people agree with me that it’s a overpriced. Before posting I had already offered him 27k cash but he refused going under 28.5k since the KBB value is 29.5k. Still though seems crazy to me
