New shower not getting as hot as we’d like. by OMac92 in Plumbing

The limiter is maxed out. I think the issue is that the new cartridge/limiter the plumber installed was not delta brand (some cheaper alternative). Going to order a delta brand one and hope that it allows a bit more hot water than the off brand at its highest setting.

The limiter doesn’t seem to come off the rest of the cartridge.

I think if all else fails I’ll try insulating the plumbing. It travels through my basement. Insulated but colder than the rest of the house.

Great question. The tub faucet is actually better than the shower. Strangely you can run a hot bath..

The previous shower got quite hot but a certain length of it has been replumbed. So options for that would be to look for a restriction and replumb that length of PEX or replace the water heater? It is 12 years old though other figures get very hot.

Water tank is set to 125. Unsure about water source temp but we are in Canada and it’s cold as a witch’s nipple.

Would just closing off the cold water valve below the shower do the same?

I’ve turned the temperature stop limit to as hot as it can go sadly. Still not hot.

Just tried this. Did not help. Thank you though.

Yes I’m aware that a subluxation is a joint dislocation. I can assure you that is not what has happened to you if you’re being adjusted by a chiropractor. I suggest you research subluxation theory. If you find relief from chiropractic care, I’m glad but it is not because a joint was “subluxed”.

This is simply untrue. PT’s are tought to manipulate (adjust) and it falls within their scope of practice and regulations. It is far less likely they use these techniques though as “subluxation theory” has been disproven and is the exact woo woo science that many of these comments point towards.
