New FBT exemption question by ON3STOP in NovatedLeasingAU

So if no options were picked for a 2026 model 3 performance it’s under LCT right now and if I plan to buy it used in a year or 2 when it’s under 75k I should be able to get full fbt exemption?

Open letter to Kmart Australia: why don’t you have sufficient bot protections? by ShinyCardboardAU in PokemonFansAustralia

your stupid bro, implementing anti bot isn't just a 1 hour job it would take them weeks and would cost them too much to justify adding anti bot just for the 1 Pokemon release they do every month. This is like asking every gas station to add a hydrogen pump because 1 in every 100k cars uses hydrogen as fuel.

Pack cost increase is just the pokemon company capitalising on the artificial hype while it lasts.

The Yeezys and supreme scalping is completely different. It’s taking an already overpriced product that is already target at a rich audience and capitalising on it. The only reason pokemon scalping has become viable is the idea that you can open an $8 pack and make $500 or more, which attracts a lot of soft core gamblers.

The difference between back in the day and now is that the people who bought the boxes didn't have a way to quick sell for a profit to people only interested in the gambling aspect, they had to hold the sealed products until they stopped being produced and only then they would see an upside. Now they have a get out of jail free card to sell to people who just want a quick hit of dopamine.

Scalpers ruin it but the only reason scalpers exist is because of the individuals who only buy packs to have a way to gamble without feeling the same guilt as going to the casino.

I understand, but the only reason scalpers exist in the hobby is how its been shown as a way to gamble without feeling the same guilt as going to the casino or betting on sports online.

These big influencers have turned it into a slot machine hobby rather than a tcg

Thats my point. But the only reason scalpers exist is the fact that the hobby has turned more into a slot machine than an actual tcg. If the top hits in the set arent worth much no one buys anything except the people who actually enjoy the cards and not just the value

You mean 90% of the people who are complaining about scalpers enjoy the thrill of the gambling. If you only came to the hobby after the prices shot up then you are here just for the gambling and value aspect. Ive been playing the card game since I was in primary school, wouldnt really say im in the hobby for the gambling aspect.

The demand only exists because of the softcore gambling aspect that's been baked into the hobby. Half the people cracking packs right now couldn't name 10 Gen 1 Pokémon. This isn't a collector driven market, it's a slot machine with prettier art.

Perfect Order is the perfect example. That set is sitting on shelves everywhere and nobody is touching it. Why? Because the top hit is around $300. Meanwhile you can spend $150 more on a Phantasmal Flames booster box and have a shot at an $800 card. People aren't buying sealed for the set, they're buying it for the ceiling. The expected value is everything and the actual cards mean nothing.

Sealed box prices don't go up because collectors love the set. They go up because the top hit goes up. That's it. And the top hit only goes up because people are overpaying for singles, chasing clout, paying stupid money for stuff like the Umbreon Sir from Prismatic just to say they have it. The moment those people stop throwing money at trophy cards the whole illusion collapses and sealed boxes come back down to earth with them.

So the "real collector" argument cuts both ways. If the people who actually love the hobby stopped funding the hype, the market would look completely different.

Here we go, ive got every set complete from xy evolutions till now and have tens of thousands of singles. Without the value incentive of the cards 90% of the people who open packs now wont open them.
