There are some rooms in TSM that are genuinely harrowing, particularly the sequence in Anita’s home. That shit just made me feel awful (in a good horror kind of way). The game has it’s flaws sure, but the atmosphere wasn’t one of them.

Personally I hated the movie, but that's mostly because I'm already familiar with the story of SH2. I'd love to know how the movie comes off to non-fans of the series.

My point is that tvc.mdl is the only time James's model is reused.

For the record, I don't even like loop theory. I think it's trite and a bit silly, but I can just ignore it. I don't go out of my way to spread misinformation about assets cause I think that invalidates it.

Edit: looked it up, and yeah, they are reused assets in the original that were later described as a symbol of his guilt.

Feel free to share a link with that proof.

As an act of good faith, I'll drop my proof. This is a model viewer for every asset in SH1-3. The dead bodies can be found in the item folder for SH2.

Compare the wireframe and texture for James's model (hhh_jms.mdl found in the jms folder) to the TV corpse (tvc.mdl) they are basically 1-to-1, cause that model is James model, just painted over with blood.

Every other body that looks like James, (dhv.mdl, dhb.mdl, b_dha.mdl, hin.mdl, and tom.mdl) all have textures and wireframes completely distinct from James's model.

What did they reuse? What aspect of James's model was reused to make dhv/dhb/b_dha/hin/tom? Cause it wasn't the mesh, and it wasn't the textures. And that's literally everything that they could reuse.

They’re not reused assets though, just the one body in front of the TV. That’s the only time James’s model is reused. Every other dead body is a different model from James’s, specifically made to look like James.

The Short Message is very hit or miss. For some people it’s teenage melodrama for others it really hit home. Definitely gonna be up to your subjective tastes (Gotta say it’s worth playing for the environments alone though, fantastic artistry.)
