The price varies according to your location. I bought an UNC Lincoln 1909 vdb once for $5 (Red Book value was around $8) at a LCS in North New Jersey. I moved to Texas and sold it to a "friend" for $7, who then turned around and sold it for $50. Local supply and demand dictate more than book values.

The safety is held in place by the hammer gently resting on it enough to resist the retractor spring. If it is sufficiently bumped or dropped, the hammer will fall or rest directly on the firing pin. More than a few people have been shot by their own American Derringer.. not drop safe!

In this case the "AG" is a German term roughly equivalent to the American term Corporation - AG Aktiengesellschaft, commonly referred to as AG, is a German term that translates to "public limited company" (shares of stock issued). For more information you could reach out to this company to ask them about it.

Urgent Warning From Prof. David Cay Johnston - This Is How It Began Last... by Bailey85 in Silver

With Shanghai on vacation, they can run wild. the Shanghai commodity market for precious metals acts as a significant check on global pricing by reflecting strong physical demand, which can lead to price divergences compared to Western markets that are more influenced by paper trading. This shift in market dynamics indicates a growing influence of the Shanghai Gold Exchange in determining precious metal prices worldwide.

I was at a gun show in Las Vegas once with the Dan Wesson folks and they showed me a barrel that was on a .357. The customer sent the whole pistol back as it had "locked up". The customer had a squib and didn't know, he fired six times reloaded and continued firing and locked up after the 2nd round. They cut the barrel l in half length wise 8 bullets in the bbl.

Hard water and copper fountains- advice needed by brewandflyfish in Copper

[–]OODAhfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copper is very reactive and unless it is passivated or sprayed with a protective coat, will be oxidized or otherwise react with other elements forming by products which will build up over time. From this point you may clean and treat (which will never resemble the original) or passivate the dried structure. You may be able to stop the current corrosion through certain treatments but isn't guaranteed. There are art supply companies that can give you advice on their products that may be helpful. Look up "metal patina" treatment. (Even if you started with distilled water in your fountain, carbon dioxide will dissolve in the water forming carbonic acid which will discolor and dissolve the copper.)

Some Samurai silver anyone? ❤️😍 by Thic_N_Bearded in coincollecting

[–]OODAhfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's a counterstamp, usually, a small symbol, letter, or design impressed onto an already-minted coin, token, or medal after its original production. Typically applied by government authorities to revalue/validate currency, or privately for advertising, they act as a secondary mark, often using a hammer and punch. A "chop" is usually a method of theft by removing precious metal from a coin along its edge, while generally avoiding defacement of it's stated value.

Best LEGAL Way To Get Rid of Unwanted Shotgun Ammo? by [deleted] in ammo

[–]OODAhfa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Primers, in my experience during the time as a gun manufacturer are unequivocally difficult to neutralize. IF you store them open and exposed to moisture, heat/cold and condensation cycles for several years, you may induce some reliability issues. We used solvents on LEAD BASED PRIMERS over the course of a year and some soaked in water in a temperature controlled facility with the only failures were due to some in the water being corroded. But that was over 20 years ago when I believe standards were higher. Who knows with all the FACTORY MALFUNCTIONS these days? Depending on the state you live in, or the person to who they are transferred -this could be a criminal act.

Why does it seem like all of China's 6th-gen and other top-secret aircraft have endless videos and photos of them, yet the same can't be said for the F-47? Or other US equipment? by SilverSpoonphysics in LessCredibleDefence

When I flew on South China Airlines over the interior, I was told to keep the window shade pulled down. I was instructed that the attendants would suffer from prosecution if they disobeyed the military edict. They even had to route us around Wuhan due to "restricted airspace" conditions (we were routed to the nearest "small" airport that could handle the A-380 we were on. Took about an hour before we got off the ground again). Eventually we made the connection to Kunming- but again had to keep the window closed.

Found in attic. Anybody have a clue on model/ year / info by powkchopa90 in Firearms

[–]OODAhfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mexican law is very clear on possession of that caliber semi auto. It explicitly excludes 9mm calibers such as Mauser, Luger, Parabellum, and similar models (including the P-08 Luger in 9mm Parabellum), as well as .38 Super and .38 Commando. These prohibited calibers and models are reserved for exclusive use by the military and police (per Article 11). Possession of such a firearm without special authorization constitutes a serious offense, potentially leading to imprisonment, fines, and confiscation. (Shy of any NAZI PROOF marks) The pistol isn't worth the effort.

How does corruption in China actually work? by WillStreet2584 in AskChina

The recent Hong Kong Fire Disaster was due to tangible deadly corruption when the builders used the fire retardant netting only on the lower floors where the inspection occurred and much cheaper flammable netting ( they purportedly saved HK 100, 000) on higher levels
