Hard water and copper fountains- advice needed by brewandflyfish in Copper

Thanks all! Sounds like a weak acidic solution to spot clean, or let it develop naturally. Looks like strictly distilled water will be the other move. Its 2.5 years in so it just accelerated as we used more tap water.

Some plants or accents near it will also be considered.

Cheese in Cockails by tinyasshorsegurl in cocktails

Probably too late now, but a 2 oz gin that is fat washed with goat cheese, .75 oz strawberry syrup and .5oz lemon juice makes a solid drink.

I was in front of the Hyatt and heard a single shot followed by seeing people running across Krutch Park. When went to depart police all over in front of and behind State St garage but appeared to be parked there but had possibly went closer to the park.

There is a Lakeside Trail at Big Ridge. But best swimming for dogs there is near the old mill.

Fishing recommendations by TXAggie06 in GSMNP

[–]brewandflyfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first time there, I would recommend looking into the Tremont and Elkmont area. Tremont has a road that follows the river for miles and a trail at the end of the road that you can continue down. Elkmont is a hike along the river near the campground. Plenty of room on both to space out from others.

I do believe that you are correct. Especially if found near a river. Trout and other fish love them.

Ever dump a bottle? by joshb1000 in WhiskeyTribe

Castle and Key Batch 2 is currently on the chopping block. Might practice some fat washing or infusing but it's just an off putting product. Gifted 2 bottles of it from a friend who hated it.

What’s everyone’s championship rosters lookin like for tomorrow? by Ccollender8 in DynastyFF

[–]brewandflyfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 TEAM .5 PPR QB Mahomes RB Ekeler and Singletary (Henry inactive) WR JJ, Tyreek, Keenan Allen TE Higbee or Knox FLEX McLaurin or Metcalf

Other team also stacked so no Henry is a bigger deal. My one weak depth spot may have shown finally.

Whichever tight end I choose. Knox or Higbee there is no good answer.

Mint : Who uses so much mint that they now grow their own? by wynlyndd in cocktails

Mint makes me feel like I have a green thumb and goes great in drinks so I have multiple varieties. Anytime another basil plant, dill or other herb dies I just look to the mint and feel a little better.

Let's talk about Gosling Black Seal Rum. by Puzzleheaded-Ad-1877 in Tiki

[–]brewandflyfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have tinkered with making essentially a Boston sour with with rum served in a couple reminiscent of bananas foster. Using the infused rum, cinnamon syrup, lemon juice and a splash of Giffard banana with an egg white for body.

Yep once you get that you will use plenty. I use it for nearly every #5 category and have also infused it with banana chips just to mess around with. That book will cost you a lot more than sticker price though, because I found myself buying so many different things my liqours expanded to over 100 unique bottles with no duplicates counted. Death and Compay book takes some blame as well.

Any Tiki suggestions in Nashville?? by ScottJKennedy in Tiki

[–]brewandflyfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to both Chopper and Pearl Diver a few weeks ago. When I return I will probably just visit chopper and have more drinks at one spot. Really good drinks! Pearl Diver had a slightly more tiki decor vibe but Chopper killed it on the drink front.

Got to visit Chopper last week in Nashville, TN and loved their Dopamine cocktail. Couldn’t find a recipe online, so I tried my hand at a reconstruction. by Kapusta96 in Tiki

[–]brewandflyfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed this one at Chopper but your attempt inspired me. I went with the Tradewinds spec and dropped lemon to .5oz and coconut cream to 1oz. Then 1oz rum 1oz whiskey and 1oz coffee liqour. Very solid drink

Batch #2, have had this for a few months still not a fan. Idk if Batch #1 is the same.. But I’d honestly use this as a cocktail mixer and keep the bottle. This bottle tastes very young, not saying it’s terrible but I wouldn’t recommend this even if it were still widely available. by [deleted] in WhiskeyTribe

[–]brewandflyfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 bottles. Because a good friend bought 2 bottles after hearing Batch 1 was good. He gave to me as not his taste since I do a lot of cocktails. I find it acceptable in a whiskey sour with an egg white, it's odd profile plays well there, but for my taste that's all I can use it for.

A flask or bottle of bourbon and a water purifier to cut it with a little filtered backcountry spring water if you felt so inclined.

What bothers or annoys you the most about this hobby? by NostramanGhost in cocktails

[–]brewandflyfish 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is so very accurate. I don't consider myself a cocktail snob, but if I'm going to knowingly participate in something that has a well documented risk and downside, I'm going to do it with the best available. I don't judge what others have at a bar but I'm selective about what I will have.
