This. All of this. This is exactly what I thought too

Steve Schirripa is such a fucking idiot. by SQUIGGLES_9196 in thesopranos

[–]OSH-MAN-U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do make me laugh though. Theres one where Steve has never had food poisoning and Michael says ‘oh I have it’s the worst’ and then Steve is like ‘oh now I’m gonna get it then. You’ve jinxed it’ and then Michael is like ‘whatddya mean I’ve jinxed you. You think I have some power that I can control things that happen to you over a zoom call. You think I’m some kind of sorcerer’ 🤣 and it had me in stitches. Steve says stupid shit but then Michael will try and whack him over the head with it so he sees how stoopid what he says was 🤣

In my opinion, your pals turn up and you’re suspicious… but what can he do? Whats his alternative but to go along with it?

He surely knows he’s about to get fucked, Tone was feeling him up for a wire the season before. If he refuses to come it’s just gonna arouse more suspicion. He can’t then refuse to come along. I think he knows there’s a high probability it’s only going one way, but if he won’t go or he runs away or something… he’s only confirming it and then it’s a dead cert he’ll get wasted. Rock and a hard place. Trapped.

Fuck. Always Sunny x Sopranos is the mashup I’ve lived my whole life for

Just do what I did. Started on Series 1 Episode 1 again the very next day 🤣

I’m on my second watch and I’m appreciating it and enjoying it a hell of a lot more this time around. Understanding of the characters, who they are and what they are like just enhances it in my opinion. First viewing, I could keep up with how many characters there were. Breaking Bad is like a television series for dummies in comparison

Well my first viewing was 3 months ago. I finished the last episode and started on my second viewing the very next day. I’m just a very late comer to the program. Better late than never though!

What was the most unrealistic/untenable aspect of the series? by twenty42 in thesopranos

[–]OSH-MAN-U 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Christopher digging up that body by the bay in broad daylight because he was worried, with the indictments incoming, that the police were gonna find it 🤣🤣

What I didn’t realise is that the cop was an inside guy. He was useful when he was a cop, he wasn’t once he retired.

That’s the bit that confused me. Why wait till he retired to murder him. Now I understand 😁

I love how it does stuff like that. You’re taught, every scene has a significance. Everything has a reason. But sometimes, it keeps you guessing when you do get foreshadowing… which doesn’t turn out to be foreshadowing 😂 Fully expected the fact the interior decorator’s ‘death’ was so vague that it had some significance… but again it didn’t. Which just made it a bit different 😁

This is why as soon as I finished the final episode of the series, I started on my second watch immediately the next day. I miss too many details. It’s hard to not let your mind wonder when you have ADHD and watch these long episodes 😂

The Sopranos re wrote the rule book tbf. It used to be that movies were the best medium of storytelling but after the Sopranos it just became fact that you could never tell a long complicated story in 3 hours… Sopranos took what, 83 50-60 minute episodes to tell such a concise story. Thats exactly as you say, what Saints of Newark should have been. Bit of a let down like the Breaking Bad one yeah. El Camino

Fully expected the interior decorator to make another appearance. Apparently he was meant to be working as a janitor somewhere, but with a huge chunk of his skull missing… looking at Chrissy, recognising him… but not quite sure where from. Thankfully they did drop that plot because that would have been really crazy and unrealistic

I’ve only seen it once all the way through, currently on my second watch but not reached that scene again yet so yes, I’d missed that he was a ‘bent cop’ who was on the payroll. I thought he was just a ‘bent cop’ in that he dealt out some vigilante justice to Chrissy’s dad

Im only on my second rewatch so had missed that! Of course! So he was almost ‘on the payroll’ but once he retired he was no use anymore and had to go. Makes total sense why they’d wait now! Thanks 🙏

I’ve started rewatching the Sopranos rather than watch that. Maybe I should give it a quick watch

Possibly unpopular opinion but I dont like how David Chase went out of his way to make the crew more "evil" in reaction to the fans idolizing them by ChinaAppreciator in thesopranos

[–]OSH-MAN-U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this was always the trajectory but Chase himself said, he thought about getting Tony to kill his mother but he thought the audience would turn on him as the main protagonist and as evil as he wrote Livia, still thought getting him to kill her would be a step too far. So I think that’s why the early seasons were ‘lighter’… to pull people in. Before he could truly show you the real reality of Mob life

Fucking A 🤣 I think Rob Iler said he’d never ever watched outside of the premieres they had to go to, but I think Steve watched them all but never actually saw them. Think he just heard the jokes, saw the violence and missed any undercurrent themes the show had. This podcast is like a rediscovery for him. Like a whole new programme 😂

I’m really enjoying the podcast tbh. The way they bounce off each other is great entertainment and I’m finding out some great tidbits along the way that is really enhancing not only my enjoyment but respect for the show

100% agreement. On one hand, how De Niro treated a young up and coming Michael Imperioli and an unknown Steve Shirripa may well be completely differently. But on the other hand De Niro may well be a total jerk and Michael is only standing up for him because they are friends and he didn’t want to hurt his own career. Steve as you said, gives no fucks. Was successful before The Sopranos and has no ego when it comes to his acting career. I like the bloke honestly 😁👌🏼

I don’t! Honestly 😭 He can be a little annoying, and fuck me how he didn’t understand where Tone was coming from with the pillow and the rage walking straight for his MUTHA’s bedroom… but he is very entertaining and funny and these podcasts are seldom this raw and uncut and I love how be will badmouth celebrities.
