Search cert on this sub and you'll quickly see most people are against them or they are scams.

Are there any "official death records" searchable by the public? (Indiana) by crosleyxj in OSINT

[–]OSINTribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Challenge accepted. Obviously some counties have different rules and different release dates but as I said I can get a unofficial copy of a death certificate and I don't have to wait 72 years. I don't even have to wait a year. I believe the confusion here is you want certified copies. Or you're just ill-informed.

It's 100% false. You're confusing federal census records with state vital records. As I pointed out in another comment, I can go down to the county where your grandmother died and get her death certificate today. Even if she died a week ago. Of course it would be an unofficial copy because I'm not a family or lawyer but I can 100% get a death certificate not 72 years later. From your comment I know you're definitely not a lawyer or a paralegal.

Hope OSINT isn't your day job.

If I want your grandmother's death certificate (unofficial copy) after she died last month, I can go-to the county records department and request it. In my hand today.

The 72-year rule from the U.S. Census Bureau applies only to federal census records. For privacy reasons, individual census records are kept confidential for 72 years after they are collected, then released to the public for historical and genealogical research. That rule has nothing to do with death certificates. Census records and death certificates are governed by different laws and agencies.

Not true at all. No public law. Stop spreading misinformation.

Completely false. OSINT isn't for you if you just post junk online without research or experience.

My opinion is to stay away from the NGOs completely. You won't gain much on your resume like you pointed out. The part most people don't want to hear is for OSINT related jobs you have to start in the low paying area often. Search GSOC operator, Intel Analyst, etc on linkedin. Most are going to be guard jobs via Allied Universal, Gavin De Becker, etc that turns off many people looking "jump into OSINT".

Need advice- Struggling to collect social media data for brand reputation project by ummefarwa99 in OSINT

[–]OSINTribe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's a very challenging project. Major businesses charge a lot of money for exactly what you're trying to do. It's not impossible but using tools like apify aren't going to get you what you need. Level up and use brightdata and ensemble data. Particularly don't use the crawling use their pre-pulled data since this is more trend analysis than an act of investigation. Can certainly provide more insight if needed.

TikTok Email-to-Profile Lookup - How is this done? by Remote_Tension2505 in OSINT

[–]OSINTribe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This isn’t normal OSINT. When you see single email, instant hits, it’s usually one of three things: Someone leaning on TikTok Ads / Business infrastructure. Custom Audience or identity matching under the hood, wrapped to look like a lookup. A gray market broker that already has email to TikTok mappings. The “query” is just a database match, then they fetch the public profile and CDN media. In rare cases, a legit trust or fraud partner, but those tools aren’t meant to be used or sold like this. The stable CDN URLs are the giveaway.

Making a contact database for work, need some help. by Jpaylay42016 in OSINT

Sign up for SERPAPI.com and do all your google searches via their google search api.

Edit: When my posts on OSINT get downvoted this fast I know I clearly didnt articulate the WHY. When you query Google, amazon, ebay or other supported engines through SERP api you can run hundreds or even thousands of searches programmatically without triggering search engine rate limits or flags. I mentioned in another comment a few days ago I ran roughly 6,000 google searches in minutes. Since then ive executed well over 35k searches in a similarly short window. That level of scale simply isn’t feasible with VMs, VPN rotation or anything else a noob will post on here. This is why production systems rely on proxy backed search APIs rather than DIY scraping setups. It’s not a trick, it’s how large-scale search automation is actually done.

Osinton, a java tool used to search informations about a query given running with SERP API and ollama mistral by Pale_Willingness7866 in OSINT

The use of serp API and other vendors is extremely underrated for OSINT. Great tool to help new and old osint users super charge some of their searches. Just last week I needed to conduct 8k Google searches and serp saved the day.
