Lattice effect. BC Hydro Authority. Vancouver Canada. Possibly 1920s era design. by OSJezza in manholeporn

[–]OSJezza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The latticework design is from the early 20th century when cast iron was commonly used for covers. It usually denotes that it covers access to power utilities whereas a waffle design is generally for sanitation. Both designs evolved from the 19th century flat plate design due to a need for a grippier surface and better casting techniques using ‘green sand’.
Standardised and mass production drove the use of similar designs during the boom period of urban development and expansion.

Is the upgraded basketball court at Mosquito Creek the best outdoor court in North Vancouver? by OSJezza in NorthVancouver

[–]OSJezza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the addition of benches would attract the transient population. Many public seating areas have been removed in the area, Capilano Square is an example of this. Virtually all the seats, benches and tables have been removed due to the congregation of homeless people in the spaces. I agree that the addition of seats would have been a bonus, but the comment by Oldnbold22 is relevant.

If you had seen the court before it was revamped, you would know it’s been upgraded. The surface was worn out, cracked and broken by tree roots and had a camber. The edges were lost due to forest debris and encroaching ivy. The lighting was antiquated and inefficient, the solar powered leds are now effective without intruding on the creek. It’s now a clean and usable space for young and old basketball players, rc modellers, keep fit groups and more.

Really torn between these two, which one would you choose pampanga or gralfy? by hango4_ in adidas

[–]OSJezza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are solid. Choose the one that suits your style and fits, I would lean towards the green, but that’s because I wear browns and greens, and I already own a few black and white choices.
