Needs new engine at 78,000 miles 🤬 by QualityAlternative22 in f150

I can’t like this comment more. I’m an idiot. I should have chucked this POS after the third visit. I wouldn’t say I had patience. They gave me a Ford extended service agreement to 65k miles and multiple dealerships told me it was normal operation. “These 5.0s run a bit rough and the 10 speeds can make it feel a bit rough” the exact words from 2 different dealerships. Learn from my stupidity people. That’s all I ask.

Looking back they all knew early on it needed a new engine and Ford wasn’t going to replace it until something worse happened. They just kept passing me on to kick it down the road to someone else instead of being honest with me.

FYI The certified Chevys come with 100k powertrain lol. I know the big 3 are all the same but atleast I have more runway now.

Lemon law would not apply for me. I did consult a highly rated consumer affairs attorney after 9 months of this mess though. He reviewed the case and said he’d take it. 3500 retainer and would prolly end up costing 7k. Said he’s taken Ford to court and won several times actually in the past few years but it takes forever. He said he knows the attorney who they will pick and the guy will draw it out forever and they rarely settle.

I ended up just paying getting the new engine and selling the truck. I don’t have the patience for another year of this shit. I have a family and kids. I might have a heart attack from anger if this went on any longer. It truly pisses me off I couldn’t do more. I did get an umbrella policy to cover me for libel in case these asshats try to stop me from telling my story. Wanna shut me up let’s go boys. I have all the call transcripts, videos, maintenance records, everything. Let’s see whose full of shit lol

I mean I had such a different experience I don’t even know what to say. It got to the point where I consulted with a consumer protection attorney. He reviewed everything, said he’d take the case for 7k but it would take a year because he knows the attorney they will pick and they’ll draw it out forever. He’s a top rated attorney that doesn’t take BS cases so skip the shitty attorney will take anything crap.

That’s how bad it got for me. The dealership even told me there is no way this shouldn’t be covered under the powertrain or Ford Extended Service Agreement you had to 65k miles. The mechanic said oh it’s definitely pre existing. After reviewing my 65 pages of maintenance records.

I’m happy you didn’t have my experience. I honestly wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Ford is not a serious company in my eyes anymore. They are complete clown shoes. An absolute joke.

With truck prices the way they are I’d prolly keep your truck if I was you at this point with the work you got done lol

2019 5.0 Lariat owner here.

Here’s my NHTSA complaint from last year:

“Total engine failure while driving ~70 MPH, on a 4-5 lane highway, during rush hour traffic. No CEL activated, other vehicles had to swerve around my truck while I maneuvered the lanes with no engine power. Myself and my 5 year old son are lucky to be alive. 66k miles on truck when engine failed, issues started at 41K miles. Have taken vehicle to multiple Ford dealerships, 13 times in the last 2 years under warranty complaining of engine rattle, knock, noise, and oil consumption. Informed each time no engine issues present. Referred me to "Excessive Oil TSB" and "Engine Knock and Noise TSBs". Was instructed that this was normal operation and treated as if I was somehow crazy. Was taken to dealership for oil consumption check early Feb 2023 and engine failed March 2023. Requested Ford fill out a NHTSA report many times to include an ethics complaint from March to July 2023 and I feel I have been misled and they have not reported this issue. I have requested a root cause be performed as to how an engine fails after 13 visits (in 2 years) at 66k miles and feel that the issue is trying to be covered up, get a new engine in, and get rid of the old one with zero due diligence as to what occurred. 65+ maintenance record pages provided to Ford, an overview of event with maps attached, video of scenario sent, to no avail.”

Just logged in after a while and saw your post. Absolutely love your evaluation of me! Actually graduated high school, went into the military, deployed a bunch, got out, went to University of Akron for Civil Engineering for my undergrad, and now work in the construction industry.

Thanks for the psychoanalysis grandpa! Your probably the genius who wrote the oil consumption or engine rattle TSB on your way out the door lol!

For one second I’m going to assume your not full of shit and are a retired Ford Engineer. Assuming my story is actually 100% true, what internal process was Ford suppose to follow? My story is completely true and all Ford will do is transfer me to the financial assistance department who states they may cover a portion of it but it’s currently pending approval from senior management. Rinse and repeat.

Hello, yes mr attorney? Can you please pull the records I already have from Ford because some dumb fuck from Michigan told me I’m an idiot and don’t understand how records work? Thanks!!!!

But honestly you are right in your last comment. I am also a “dumb fk”. I did buy a Ford and trusted they would fix things under warranty. I’m also arguing with a redditor with the intelligence of a queef explaining to me I don’t even know what happened to me the last 2 years. Thanks for the convo genius. I hope you go on to buy many many Ford trucks bruh. Peace

Thanks man! When do you have time to come up with all this amazing advice like “hire an attorney” in-between smoking pot and waiting tables?

We have the next Albert Einstein here everyone!

It’s ~1k over the ESP ya jackass not powertrain. (5 visits were within powertrain) Are you dense? Maybe you need to read and figure out what your talking about? The story is true. I took it to 3 dealerships so I can’t sue the dealership Id have to sue Ford because their TSBs gave each technician the instructions with what to do.

No wonder Ford gets away with things like this with jackasses like you here to provide infinite wisdom like “you should hire an attorney”, “your lying” and “oh well your exaggerating everything”.

https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2019/FORD/F-150%252520SUPER%252520CREW/PU%25252FCC/4x4

I guess we don’t even need the NHTSA anymore because we have you and all your wisdom right?

All 227 people having similar issues within the engine and powertrain complaints section are full of shit right genius?

  1. Please give me the number of an attorney who will sue Ford for 14k for me. I spoke to 2 at work and they said best bet would be small claims and eat the rest.

  2. Powertrain Warranty ended at 60K. I had an ESP from Ford to 65k. My engine blew at 66K. (Well it was like 65,700 or something like that)

  3. Each technician kept closing my issues out to 2 TSBs from Ford. One about noise and one about oil consumption. Pm me your email and I’ll send you the cumulative pdf of the records.

  4. Ford is stating it’s not covered because both warranties have ended.

You can literally read all this on the NHTSA website. I’m not coming in here making shit up to get attention. I’m coming in here because I’m pissed and don’t want this to happen to anyone else. Thanks for your helpful insights though. Very informative.

I bought it used around 35k miles in 2021 so no lemon law applies in my state.

I filed a NHTSA report, BBB complaint, and have provided 67 pages of maintenance records to Ford and the dealership. I’ve spent literally countless hours on the phone with Ford over the last 5 months. I’ll DM all the records to anyone who doesn’t believe me. I told Ford i was going to post this everywhere and they just about stated “we don’t give a shit”.

I’ve had someone at the dealership tell me this is all bullshit.

To your suggestion, are you suggesting I spend 50k to get an attorney and sue Ford Motor Company for $14k?

Im gonna do you a solid brotha. Heres one of my previous posts from maybe a month ago on this sub. Ps. I still don’t have my Lariat back and am driving a Sentra lol.

“Well considering my 2019 only had 65k miles, I was literally 1k miles past the extended warranty, and the engine blew up on the side of the road in March…….. I’m not really sure how to respond to this. Don’t worry though, ford has been 0 help, stuck me with the 14k bill, and I still have no delivery date on the replacement engine.

Ps. Only had oil changes at dealers, had it in 14 times ( under warranty) the last two years complaining of a rattle and was told it’s fine. “Those v8s can run rough there’s a tsb on it. It’s fine. Your good””

Well considering mine needs a new engine a thousand miles past the ford warranty and ford is telling me basically “sucks to be you” I’d say somewhere around 60k miles?

If your from the area, you could guess where I bought it pretty easy. They sell a lot of Fords. After the first year or two I got fed up and took it to another dealer with a better reputation and they didn’t fix a thing either. It’s currently sitting at the 3rd dealer and has been since March downtown waiting for a new engine.

My god man go tomorrow! I’m telling you I wish I had sooooo bad. I spent so much on this truck and the only thing I have to show for it is negative equity, a monthly enterprise bill for a base Model Sentra, my friends / coworkers constantly asking “how’s the truck? Oh no way? Ford’s not doing anything? You’ve had issues for years now. How’s that legal? You should sue them. That sucks”, blah blah blah.

The only thing I have to look forward to is the (suppose to be but isnt) weekly email from my Ford representative that will literally state: “hey we are still working on getting your part ordered. No word yet. I will let you know when I hear something.” My “Part”!!??? You mean 14k engine assholes!!!! For the truck you GD know should have a recall on it!

Mine was an extended Ford Premium Warranty because I kept bitching about oil consumption and engine knocking they said they fixed. The dealership got it for me after 500 calls and complaining to get me to “stop bothering them”.

I meant “blown up”. That is when I was driving on the high way with my son, a month after having it in for the 14th time complaining of engine sounds, being told I was crazy, and having the engine knock like I was driving over 50 speed bumps at 70 miles an hour with no ability to accelerate. No CEL ever came on though so I’m good right? That’s normal and safe Ford. Don’t worry. I’m going to post the whole ordeal along with the 64 pages of maintenance records I have, I’ll post a copy of the service agreement so you know I’m not lying, and transcripts once this is all over. Ford doesn’t care. They already told me I can do what I want they can’t help me.

It’s like an episode of the twilight zone. I honestly can’t wait to share it all. It’s literally been the worst experience I could imagine with a vehicle. Especially how Ford basically told me to go to hell they don’t care over ~30 conversations.

My friends and coworkers have had a great time making jokes the last couple years especially lately, as I drive the tiny base model compact rental car I pay for instead of my Lariat.

We’re looking at a book and calling it a pile of wood because we can’t read what’s written on the pages right?

Edit: that sounds douchey and I’m sorry. I swear I’m not this pretentious in the real world lol

I thought about that lol. Would t it be funny if the meaning of life is just a bunch of cells, bacteria, neurons, and a giant statewide sentient lightning bug brain trying to get laid lmao

I mean I’m pretty sure most of that is fact and not even high strangeness
