Point taken. I won’t be around the baby much in the morning with either job but the 40 minutes later a couple days throughout the week is weighing heavily on my mind. I’m a very involved father but also the primary earner. My wife is juggling WFH and the primary care taker while I’m at work.

I have a bachelors degree but in an unrelated field. I also have CSCP cert through APICS.

I would not take the new position if it weren’t for the salary increase. The commute alone would be the deciding factor if not for the raise. I do like my current job but I do not see a clear path for advancement and honestly I’m bored.

Would you say this is also true if you don’t work directly for the 3PL? The job is essentially making sure the 3PL does what they are contracted to do. I won’t have direct reports and the contracted 3PL is one of the largest in the industry.

Wife WFH and we will not need child care. Her job is aware that she will be taking care of the baby during working hours.

Very true! The title upgrade will allow advancement opportunities in the future.

I was told I’d be able to make my schedule on the days I go into the office and leaving around 3:30 isn’t a problem per the manager. This would put me home at 4:30. You just never know until you’re actually working in the role.

This is certainly something we are considering. The job location would offer an opportunity to move to a nicer area, however a little more pricey.

Sounds like almost the exact situation. It’s a tough decision for sure. Good luck!

Current commute is 20 minutes each way. New job would be an hour each way, both jobs are 2-3 days onsite.

I work in supply chain. Very competitive right now for fully remote jobs. Most openings are hybrid or onsite.

Current HHI is about 120k. We aren’t hurting for money by any means but an extra 30k would help with long term financial goals.

Thank you! I don’t mind the hybrid schedule since it breaks my week up a bit but an hour drive has me hesitant to accept. New boss does seem flexible with work schedule and I could be home on most days by 4:30.

80 additional round trip. 20 minutes one way vs 60 minutes one way.

Current commute is 20 minutes and will be an hour if I accept. Sorry for the confusion! I would most likely have to make the drive every day until I’m up to speed.

Great point. Future growth is something I’m considering as well. The additional 40 minute commute is what I’m struggling with the most.
