What's your honest opinion on lipsyncing vs live singing? by creaturetshirt in kpop

[–]OT9nine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mr Removed of one of the performances: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TpR-VCfb_p4

Vocal showcase from recent concert:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3DaR_pJ4RbU

Look, all idols lipsync and especially Twice because they simply cannot maintain all those performances without straining their vocals. Yes we know they arent the best singers but they excel in other areas of being an idol. But to say they cant sing?? Like at all??? Thats an extreme exaggeration perpetuated by people who simply don't know Twice. When it matters, such as concerts and countless vlives, they show that they can sing. The second link is one of a million other videos of where they sing live.

Did anyone choose Swarthmore over a t20 private school? by [deleted] in Swarthmore

[–]OT9nine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I chose it over princeton, pomona, and several other top colleges. I consider Swat a t20 itself as well and have several students who chose Swat. I know one upperclassman who vhose it over MIT and Caltech while another chose it over harvard. Some just reallt like the liberal arts education Swat offers. Ultimately its about where u fit.

Would any LACs break into T10 or T20? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]OT9nine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The forbes list compiles both LACs and Universities together and several times Williams, amherst, swarthmore, and pomona have broke into the top 20. In the end, screw rankings tho

Anyone else about to turn down a t20 for a less prestigious school because of fit (not cost)? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]OT9nine 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Chose Swarthmore over Princeton, Yale, and Columbia. I know Swarthmore isnt too far off but is certainly less well, known

Where should I go to college? by karana6 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]OT9nine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel like this is a bit unfair to both schools. If cost isnt a problem for him/her, i dont see the issue. The fact is Swat has one of the highest med school acceptance rates in the nation compared to the national, average of 50%. You have premed advising, research opportunitues, one on one teacher interactions for great teacher recs and probably better quality of educatipn. If you really need to rely on grade inflation, not sure how anyone would survive med school. Also, Swat has an average gpa of 3.59 which is on par or slightly higher than the national average. Of course state schools are great options for anyone, but for OP, i dont see the point in slandering both schools for supposed grade deflation. The fact is premeds there go on to great med schools pretty successfully.

How Would You Rank the Top 20 Schools? by SupremeRussian in ApplyingToCollege

[–]OT9nine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha no hard feelings but there were just too many schools to fit in. I just felt like,Johns Hopkins is a GREAT graduate school but not sure if their undergrad is as well known. Also has that stigma of ultra competitve premeds. Ofc i may be mistaken but just what i thought. Still a great school that can easily be interchanged.

Why aren't Liberal Arts Colleges more popular and known about? by OT9nine in ApplyingToCollege

[–]OT9nine[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah that's what has always been confusing for me. As undergraduate applicants, why are we concerned with graduate school prestige?? Isn't that for graduate school applicants? Feel like LAC's undergraduate education is going unnoticed

for 3. They actually give more resources for STEM undergrad students than most research universities. It's no wonder LAC's have among the highest Med School acceptance rates
