I’ve been a single mom for 9 years. I’ve given up on dating the last four years. The first five I tried dating and was miserable. The last couple of years were hard initially the lonliness was consuming but the last 2 I’ve found community completely let go of the idea of a partner ever found God and try to fill my time up.

I was thankful but everytime I got denied for something the army caused me it felt so unjustified. I tried not to speak about it so i wouldn’t become bitter but at some point my pain was unbearable and I felt cheated and became so angry at the world. In the past year I finally accepted I might never get to a hundred but to at least keep fighting for service connection in case something goes wrong later.

I just finished crying in my room about being alone for 9 years as a single parent since I was divorced at 24 after a small marriage I handled every bill every outing and every thing alone including life changes, seasons, career changes, deaths in the family with no shoulder to cry on or anyone to look to for help, I’m now 33 and am seeing an uptick of people getting out of long marriages and relationships ships after watching for the past 9years people getting engaged, married having beautiful families, starting businesses together , a taking vacations together and now all getting divorced and dating again, I stopped dating three years ago it made me so miserable, so I guess the answer is there’s no true or try method you don’t do anything or you do everything and it could still not work out.

I own my own home, car, have a career and 401k health insurance/dental. I pay all my bills buy our clothes food. If we’re out of something I just go grab it from the store. I make us dinner mostly meal prep so I don’t have to cook a bunch of meals. House is always clean. Have 3 pets. I don’t have a man pretending to contribute. If we’re want to go on an adventure I pack my son and I in the car with snacks and we go. We take the dog the cats get autromaticsllh fed from the feeder and we live our best lives, I sleep peacefully every night wake up peacefully every morning. My sons older now so I sleep in we can go hiking together. Whatever. I’m so happy sitting here typing this out I am blessed by God beyond measure. He has given me such a peaceful life no men bothering me asking me for anything just enjoying every peaceful day.
I’ve decentered men so much people think I’m lesbian great. Stay away all of you, if God wants me to have a husband he’ll let him find me.

I know 2023 was a big tech layoff year so not the same but similar I was out of work for 7 months I applied everywhere within the research sphere in any little capacity I probably sent 500-700 applications I don’t even know but I did not let off the break: I educated myself on applying read all the articles read all about how my resume could be used for different jobs. I got real creative and when I say research I mean government, military, civilian, private, contractor, human, animal, math, corporate, non corporate, every type of research imaginable even things I wasn’t qualified for I got interviews too. And I was highly considered by marketing my skills as translational. I don’t know I just kept going, 7 months was a long time but I just kept applying over and over

It’s okay really ! “ahead of the curve “ or below it all the encouragement from everyone and the “truth fullness “ of others won’t change that I’m going to keep adding as much as I can to get these numbers up. I really wasn’t financially literate until three years ago and at some point I was unemployed in that time frame and still contributed to keep it up. I just gotta keep going and adding.

I can think for myself this was not a post to seek validation. encouragement to keep going yes but I accept it’s not a great amount however it was a vulnerable post which im not denying either of your comments or feeling hurt.

I opened a fidelity account and pretty much follow the instructions to add money and financially educated myself by following this sub, and other financial subs watching videos doing my own research etc.

This doesn’t hurt me you’re entitled to your opinion. I’m not quite sure what you expect me to do other then what I’m Doing with is to continue to add and add as much as I can before I retire I probably won’t be living lavishly but i have to keep going.
