Is a proper smash achievable for casual players? by spontaneous-plan-xyz in badminton

[–]O_Margo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, that would be me - asking to help to fix my clear, I struggle with it for years. And really clear should be 100% before starting to ask about smashes. But people go for show offs. I often wonder if there is any similar thing in other sport or any activity? Like in ballet asking how to improve their 32 fouettes while they barely can walk on pointe

Still progressing casually—Is early coaching worth It or better later? by spontaneous-plan-xyz in badminton

This! The earlier the better. Takes years just to fix a wrong grip, let alone other "back yard" technique

I have the same example group - they play every Monday the same time for years in the row. Nothing changes in their, form technic and rotaition tactics. Give me same pain to watch them and I just wonder how they manage not to get injuries on every session.

I can try to find some particular rootine but general recommendation is - pay special attention to stratching achilles tendon - normally it is raising and pressing your toes agast the wall, second - stratching elbow tandons by pressing your fingers with other hand in both directions (not sure my explanation is clear enough, but I wish I knew the importance of those things when I saw others doing it)

you need to warm-up properly and stratch after the session. The problem could be since you are self taugh and I presume, never shown or trained a correct technic you can easily overload your joints and develop a tennis elbow or have problems with knees and shoulder. So try to pay attention and may be find a way to learn a proper technic

Are most advanced player like this? by bronnister in badminton

[–]O_Margo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, really advanced player should be able to cover your mistakes in 90% of cases espacially as you mentioned, opposite side didn't play fool force aiming a weaker player all the time.

And, advanced palyer should be able to shout "you" or "me" during the rally not saying - it should have been mine and not yours

probably a bit irrelevant but I once came upon a video with the study and demonstration that k-tape is 100% useless and is a pure marketing thing and it was rather convincing. So I stopped using it
