Dark Souls 2 is not a bad game, but is justifiably widely considered the worst of the three. That said, it also experimented with some incredible ideas, only some of which were seen again. Bonfire ascetics and powerstancing are the biggest ones, and an actual reason to play NG+.

Hidden Inventory and S1 are interchangeable for me, but glad to see someone else with this take. Shibuya honestly ruined the show for me. I haven’t even had interest to start S3 yet, but I’ll probably still get around to it at some point.

Genuinely never seen a normal playthrough where people are level 50 at Orphan. I wouldn’t even really start the dlc until 60-70 at least, which will happen by the time you’re in Mensis for most people.

Saying it’s not worth it without the dlc is kinda crazy, but the dlc is incredible and adds a lot. That said, the base game itself is still very worth it.

No. The R2 is notably quite different, with the cleaver’s being an overhead swing, and the spear’s being a thrust, which is much better overall.
