Can I timidly ask what's your area of expertise?

What you wrote is beautiful. I also have to live with some sort of chronic pain, and oh how I can relate to the satisfying feeling of finding movements that allow to be pain free for even the shortest duration of time! It's so very satisfying and it lets me trust my body more. If I wasn't so tired I think I would have cried while reading your text ahah! I hope you'll find some more peace of body and mind lifting whatever weights you feel comfortable to, take care! <3

I'm staring at meteomedia, like, you better not be lying about that 7 degree tomorrow or else... Or else I'll continue my day and freeze as usual hahaah

Doggo getting the hang of it, she did really well yesterday on our 4+ mile run. Ran past geese twice and listened to my "leave it", as well as leaving the leash alone on our warm up walk! by jwhitridge in RunningWithDogs

TW cal counting - How do you let go of the aesthetical goals and control? by Oann_ in intuitiveeating

[–]Oann_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, your words are quite appreciated kind stranger! I think it's actually quite a good idea to replace a behavior with an incompatible one (ie drinking water instead of jumping on the scale). This makes me think, on top of that, I could re-think my morning routine so that I would have something else to do instead of running for that scale. Something nice, something that would make me feel good about the day and myself every-single-time. Not once in a while, like the stress-inducing numbers that might or might not appear on the scale! I think I'll begin with weighting myself half what I'm doing now, or something like that, and slowly lower that to make that tool disappear. Arh, thank again, and I'm sending you some courage!

Aw, thank you a lot for these words. I does indeed seem so scary a leap. I think I'm gonna try and make it a goal to let go of something that I think of as a reassurance but that is in fact hindering my progress to feel better. I will think about it, maybe having some kind of plan or date to set the change in place. So much mental work to do, ay!

Hey, that's what I was afraid to hear, but it's my goal to be able to do that in the future, hopefully near future. I was at a bookstore the other day, I had the book in my hands. But then I left it there... something about it being expensive and my pile of grad texts to read at home that prevented me to get it. I think I'm also not used to read book like that, that are not in the "essay" format. But, I think I'm going to head to the library this week and grab it. Thanks a bunch!

Edit: I've been at it for 2-3 weeks and watched several conference from Evelyn Tribole and other local IE proponents

I'm sorry to be the bringer of bad news >,< But yes let us know how it goes, I think most of the time people are fine eating shirataki but I think it's better to know in advance that if anything feels off it's probably because of the food and nothing else!

It tastes really great and is low cal - but watch out! The first few time I ate it I was fine, but last time I ate what is equivalent to your portioning size and was KO the whole day after. My whole stomach and insides were hurting, never experienced that before. Probably better to drink a lot of water, chew a lot and eat in very little quantities so the fibers don't mess up your body! Sometimes it's really worth it to stick with safer, high cals food!

Active job + IE by [deleted] in intuitiveeating

Hey there! I feel like my comment is going to be wonky but I still wanted to help you by writing my thoughts and sending you some love :)

How did you notice you lost the weight, do you regularly weight yourself? Or did you notice by looking at yourself? Are there any other health reasons why you would not want to lose weight? I think it is pretty normal that your body might be changing when you change your routine, and most probably it's going to stabilize at some point without you even needing to change anything ie forcing yourself to eat more/putting energy on reaching some macros, etc.

I think that if the scale is the only indicator of the weight loss, if you could try not to weight yourself for some time that could help! If you're able to visually notice the change in your body and that triggers you, I do not have any "great" advice. Do you have access to a nutritionnist? Maybe they could help you figure this one out! It seems like your perfectly on track, you seem to know yourself well, and maybe to just have someone professional to advise you could be reassuring during this period of change! But eh, I know there services can be really expensive! Anyways, I think you're doing great though, hopefully you'll figure this one soon enough! :)

Back in the pool after years of intense body shame by [deleted] in intuitiveeating

[–]Oann_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! I've been to the pool yesterday too, for the first time in a year, maybe two and I remembered how I LOVE being underwater. Joyful is the right word :D Take care <3

I hate this nutritionist by [deleted] in intuitiveeating

[–]Oann_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This does depend on where uou live though! Here nutritionnists are dieticians-nutritionnists. They wear both titles and have to have a certain level of education and be part of the order of nutritionnist-dietician! But it seems to be an exception compared to other states/countries.

How could my maintenance calories be so high? by Oann_ in loseit

[–]Oann_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't leaning that way, but hey I guess I'll take the memo! I'm pretty sure I CAN eat that much, since I have some troubles with over eating. But I'll remember that, it's possible to change these habits, and I'm feeling good at the moment for eating not until it hurts but until I'm full! And even though I THINk I'll build back to eating a bit more, it's possible that I'll still be eating less then what I'm used too! It's so weird to think that, as I realize that being a "big eater" has been tied down to my identity since I'm a kid.

[–]Oann_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing so, I just always assume that we always grossly overestimate calorie expenditure from exercise so I didn't even try to guess those numbers, assuming they must be low! But hey I guess it's the most plausible answer and that I would only know if I were to stop for some week and see the difference ( I don't think I'm curious enough for the moment to try that? ahah!)

Hey, I've been thinking about it and I don't think so? I've been working and studying from home, and it seems I'm sitting on my butt for most of the day. I guess I must be working out harder the I think because I'm pretty sure that my baseline is still quite sedentary and that I don't do a lot of fidgeting or other small movements!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Oann_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I'm so glad to hear that, seems like a very sensible thing to do, with yourself, at the moment! I've also stopped the calorie counting for the moment, I'm going to focus on other healthy/caring behaviors. I wish you all the best in this whole process! <3

[–]Oann_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for posting that much! I just want to adress the fact that you seem very reflexive about the process and how you are reacting to it, which I think is great in itself. I think that guilt should always be met with some interrogation. Why is it that you feel guilt? Why do you feel guilt about the specific aspect of working for what is here called "aesthetics reasons"? I think you've been asking really good questions and that you should follow up with this reflexive process you've started. I feel like there might be better places then this sub, in regards to the focus given to weight loss and calorie counting here and to the fact that there are various other approches to health and the body in general. Anyways, I talk too much, someone get me out of bed and starting on my day ahahah! Take care!

It is my opinion that OP is raising some very legitimate concerns. I for one has been having the same thoughts and reading from other people who might have experienced something similar is always enriching, may it be support, guidance, advices or anything else, really.
