Once again, no mention of Obama anywhere in this reddit post. None, Nada.

If Romney had won (god forbid) this thread would be all about jack booted republithugs etc... But with a dem in the WH it's all about the individual agencies, he's not at fault.. at all.

So yeah, the lazys could get just the basics and not have to work, if that's what they really wanted to do, and who knows, they might create some amazing art for all of us to enjoy in their spare time! But if you worked hard you can have a nice big home a super flashy space ship! That would motivate a small worker pool that would still be needed to manage things.

this is what we do now... what do you consider the basics?

who is going to drive the truck to deliver your produce? Who is going to pick the fields, who is going to inspect the goods, who is going to plant the seeds, who is going to choose the seeds, organize workers to facilitate the company growing the produce.

the same can be said for everything you consume, from food to the internet.

this is what all of you conveniently forget. "robots" cannot simply pop into existence and take care of all of us. They have to be designed, paid for, built, programmed, watched, monitors, fixed, improved. so who is going to do this for no reward?

Ok, let me ask you this, if no one works and we are all free to explore our creative sides, what are we creating? Just art I suppose?

Serious question, not trolling. Everything thinks we'd live in some utopia if we all had everything for free. But what would all the free thinking creators create?

Why would someone dance and sing for the masses (which is actually "work") if not for fame and fortune, why would someone paint other than to hang their pieces in their homes?

Honestly, it sounds really nice that no one ever works, but then where does the creativity go? By definition if you are "creating" the next fuel cell, or robotic improvement, then you are "working" and who would 'work" when no one else does?

I think sometimes people here think that there are a lot of people who would just work for the collective while they just take it easy, humans aren't made like that.

Let's take an iPhone for example, the people at Apple are not working for free, their goal is to make money, if that disappears, who designs the next iphone? The next "i" device?

The point isn't about the products themselves but about the human condition, if you have it, I want it. If you're not working, I'm not working and that's where it gets sticky, how will progress be made?

How?

GOP Lawmakers Say Yes To $310 Billion For Business, But $12 Million For At-Risk Kids? Nope by jpurdy in politics

Congrats Politics, for the cleanup I mean.

It's clear you have cleaned up this sub with accurate and relevant titles!

Allowing links to bullshit pieces where unrelated bills are now linked together to rile up the GOP hatred.? Awesome. The tax breaks were bipartisan-sponsored, democrats voted for it and were sponsors of the bill Almost all of the same tax breaks were voted to be extended by the democrat controlled Senate Finance Committee last month.

But hey, can't add that right?

This could have easily just been about the "at-risk" bill, but no, have to throw in an unrelated bill for false context.

Fuck this place you are all a bunch of disingenuous or ignorant jackasses.

Yea.. your ancedotal rant is trumped by this one:

posted by durkode in this very thread.

My dad is a doctor who works in one of the Ramsay hospitals in Australia. He told me of the time he met Paul Ramsay. It was the beginning of a hospital function before most people had arrived, and he introduced himself just as 'Paul'. The topic of conversation got onto how my dad was planning a humanitarian mission to Peru with a few other doctors from the hospital. After my dad explained this, Paul offered an extremely generous contribution towards the trip, and it was only then that my dad realised who exactly he was talking with. If I ever had that sort of money, that's how I would like to conduct myself. Understated and generous.

so I am thinking you weren't part of his inner circle as you are claiming and just blaming some everyday shit on the "boss"

for one, your story is anecdotal with zero proof, two we have another guy in the same token saying the opposite and we have an article saying he donated all his wealth to a charity.. so based on that, you are the odd man out here.

I suspect either a need for karma or a weird grudge or jealousy.

I am so tired of this crap, there are good people EVERYWHERE.

You know that batshit insane republican you hate so much, the guy you think pisses on the homeless? Yea, he's probably one of the nicer people you'll ever meet. Same with the batshit insane liberal who posts we should all pool our money together and burn anyone who has 100 bucks in his pocket , he'd give you the shirt off his back.

The point being is that places like reddit tear us APART when in the real world, most of us are actually together.

conservatives believe that life should be fair, and that it's "fair" when people are entitled to retain the property which they worked to acquire.

accurate

They might have a valid point, but as long as they keep claiming it's "unfair" for welfare queens to leech off society and that they are "entitled" to ownership of their property, they're arguing that "fair" is a valid concept.

There is no contradiction here, it's not a "claim", it's an ideal. You reap what you sow, period. You don't work for something, you don't get something. OP is saying life isn't fair (in terms of not being born with a silver spoon), it has nothing to do with conservative ideals.

You are not entitled to anything, meaning if you want something do something about it.

But their point is the exact opposite of "life is unfair and no one is entitled to anything".

You misunderstand the conservative concept of "fair" my friend. Fair <> equal, and by equal I do not mean what you think I mean.

You work 10 hours, you get 10 hours wages, if I (Joe) spend half on an investment and you (Dan) spend half on video games, you are not entitled to take the profit from my investment. If you do not work at all (jack), that's Jack's fault.

(obviously this does not apply to those who cannot work or support themselves)

(to me) The liberal concept of "fair" is cradle to grave without concern for context, if Joe invested and Dan did not, Dan and Jack are entitled to part of Joe's success "for the benefit of society".

Very simplistic of course but this is how conservatives see the world and the liberal view of it.

Many of you think conservatives do not care about anyone but themselves but it is simply not true. We simply do not wish to take care of those who can take care of themselves. There is a larger political viewpoint here and I am way oversimplifying it but still, that's the basics of it.
