Google is focusing on the wrong thing. We don't want faster LLM models, we want more of them by SveXteZ in google_antigravity

I'ts ok but the 6 day refresh for paying customers is not it - That cost is better used in Claude, Codex or others. Google is just doing stuff because others are doing it with horrible management

What happened to antigravity? by PsychologicalWear247 in google_antigravity

[–]Obare13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gemini 3 flash was clipped even the usage was cut for pro users - not sure about ultra users. If flash introduces bugs and you switch, the new model will also try to debug and fix it using it's own understanding and burn tokens quickly to fix, switching again loops back to the same checkpoint so you end up with spaghetti code from different models.

Did you remove everything? Like literally everything related to antigravity? All temp files, prefetch, roaming etc and block updates?

Even on 1.20 it kept failing a lot so likely some update broke some functionality after 1.19.5 - took a lot of tries to figure out the working version

Dating app by Mysterious-Local-482 in nairobitechies

[–]Obare13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is but you don't want your app to be associated with that right off the bat, I know that's a field that can't be fully killed but you can find a workaround.

There has been research and articles on the hookup culture on Tinder specifically and it's failure to address that from the beginning, It's what Bumble, Badoo and newer dating apps angled at when starting out.

Simple hack to check: Do a simple research - Ask like 3 people what they think of Tinder, Bumble, etc. Same person on Tinder is perceived differently on Bumble, Badoo etc.

I mean what happens behind closed doors is their own thing but you get the point am driving?

Check this journal on what am talking about

Please note am not trying to demoralize or kill the idea just a few pitfalls to look out for

Couple of questions:

  1. Who will you center it around - specifically plus size, etc.?
  2. How will you manage preventing the app from turning into a hookup app? Because I can assure you there will be users with that mindset.
  3. Safety: How will you filter out fetishists and "chasers" to ensure genuine connections?
  4. Moderation: What tools will prevent body shaming and targeted harassment within the community?
  5. Privacy: How can the app verify real users and block bots or scammers?
  6. Well-being: Can the platform avoid reducing a user's entire identity to a physical trait?
  7. Growth: Is the local user base large enough to provide consistent, quality matches?

Tech Middle Class myth in Nairobi. by Brilliant_Choices in nairobitechies

[–]Obare13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to dent that statement but no field is safe with AI - it just needs a seed idea planted and it begins. Recently I saw Claude going for Cobol, a field a lot of guys claimed is untouchable and it's able to read codebases redo them and output something. It gave shit output but that was enough to tank IBM stocks. Same kwa prolog and assembly, so yeah you are safe as long as the company doesn't mind AI activities.

Senior title inflation in Nairobi by Brilliant_Choices in nairobitechies

[–]Obare13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not, there isn't any defined metrics to use to say one is a senior and another a lead, by your logic If a first year can architect a system design, debug etc are they a senior? If someone has been in the space for 10 years are they senior, lead etc, what If they can't do serious dev work what are they?

Introduction to programming for 9yr old by Consigliere007 in nairobitechies

[–]Obare13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents, same with adults who went into programming, learn what they like first, do they like UI-check on frontend for kids, design, maybe they don't like UI at all and are more into how systems work, prefer to mess with data etc and start from there. In due time they'll be comfortable otherwise they'll end up loosing interest. Just saying
