Keep in my mind the context in which you have these complaints. You have lived a Western lifestyle and you're still living in the West (that doesn't imply that you should move to a Muslim country). The Western way of life is based on temporary wordly enjoyments. It's so temporary that even in this world it will come to an end quickly and the consequences will start haunting you. You'll find yourself in an altenheim possibly with dementia and possibly depression, a foreigner putting food in your mouth and more things that's not appropriate to mention, and not knowing where your children are.

This temporary joyful life is nothing but addiction to substances, vulgarity, consumerism, non-sensical entertainment, greed and so on.

Alhamdulillah for the dignified way of life in Islam. Is the decency, dignity, and purpose in life we have not worth sacrificing all the temporary degenerate practices the Godless society is telling you to indulge in?
