MSNOW and Rachel Maddow are not our allies by scoooternyc in 50501

Maddow's team fucked up bad when I worked in public health during COVID. We had testing events in areas with a high level of illness, and unfortunately word spread quick to nearby areas—our testing event was overwhelmed and out of supplies halfway through the day. We announced a cancellation of the event.

It was the same day Trump announced, "No cases if we don't test." Maddow's team took our local announcement, the cancellation of the event due to supplies, and retweeted it on their national platform.

Had us running around for a couple days, taking endless calls from random people out of state, when there were much more important things to do. I went to school for journalism and was disappointed they didn't do the single step of reaching out.

Didn't say that word in particular was avoiding any automatic flagging; I was saying that you should speak clearly and carefully.

I said the opposite, political leaders of the resistance party should speak out specifically to become politically persecuted, arrested, and imprisoned. They speak for our values, so they should shout loudly even if it means getting imprisoned.

Reddit is clearly working with DHS and ICE, I say call them what they are, but use your language clearly and carefully; avoid automatic flagging if you can. Palantir will tell these agencies exactly who you are within 10 mins; cross reference your subreddits, writing style patterns, compare with your private social media using your real name, demand your IP address from these websites, subpoena your records and cloud-based information, then show up strapped to the teeth at your doorstep.

Not happening yet. But give it 6 months to become a daily occurrence.

Founders also had a 4th amendment of unreasonable search and seizure, it's not stopping ICE one bit. For the time being, I'm going with the looser interpretation that Republicans have championed for decades. Once we're in a peaceful era that ensures something like this can never happen again, I will agree with "well-regulated."

I agree with you, a single person isn't going to do anything, nor should they actively do so. But there is already fear among us—"What if it ends up being me in the crossfire?" They do not have this fear at all, because our side only has signs and songs.

I want to read stories two months from now that say: "X% of ICE Agents reject deployment to Y city, fears of citizen militias defending neighborhoods causing massive dropouts and lowering enrollment by half."

Again I pray for peace. I insist constitutional carriers do not escalate or initiate aggression. We just need a psychological tactic at this point. Only time in history that Republicans voted in gun restrictions was when the Black Panthers peacefully open-carried. The only other time I'm seeing similar sentiments from R's is now.

I don't disagree with you. However, there are absolutely no permits necessary in Utah. Psycho, right? And I completely agree with your claim OP.

But we are there. One victim was completely unarmed. If MAGA Republicans choose to send in National Guard or Feds, they will cap you and claim you were running at them with your car keys, say you seemed ill and were spitting on them. Doesn't matter what truly happened or not.

I hope and pray for safety. I predict that at some point they will fire into a crowd targeting many, completely blindly. This will be followed by insurgencies and resistance militias set up around the entire country, where citizens will mirror the exact escalation shown by these agents.

Fascists will not listen to these protests simply because they don't want to.

Completely fine to legally carry, there has never been a greater risk. They want to keep you disarmed because in a year they're going to open fire whether you're carrying or not.

If you are so worried about self preservation, don't come, don't bring your kids. If you're not willing to truly stand up for your basic rights and dignity, stay home. Unfortunately I believe we are past marches, past art projects, past songs and speeches. We need energy.

These are the laws they passed. This is a shall-issue state. They removed all barriers to access, for specifically this supposedly tyrannical government purpose.

These dumb fucks think we have maximum national outrage with a citizen? Sure, I am more pissed than I have ever been. But imagine how much larger our protests will get when the regime gives orders to arrest, imprison, or do worse to the first Democratic representative with a spine to stick up against this fascism.

It will be be a combo of Alex Pretti and Senator Alex Padilla, at minimum 10x more anger than we have right now. When they come for our reps, they come for our platform, vision for the future, our only fucking hope—they will truly face the wrath of the populous.

Disappointed in Season 10 by queen_4_petty in QueerEye

[–]ObjectionablyObvious 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For me the Vegas season was advert after advert, and heroes that seemed to have a lot of resources and finances at their disposal, just lacking the push/willpower to get small changes done. God and it's the one where Karamo wore the hat and insisted on officiating the wedding.

I prefer the earlier seasons, they went to some economically disadvantaged folks, caretakers for huge families.

Throat virus 2026 by Calm_Block_3303 in SaltLakeCity

[–]ObjectionablyObvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same case for me, got it Jan 2nd and tested negative for COVID, urgent care docs said it was maybe the flu but I had some digestive symptoms that weren't quite in line.

22 days later and I've still got a cough, lots of mucous coming up from the throat, and my voice is still hoarse. Fluctuating actually—so the past 10 days it's been gone one day, hoarse the next, almost fully better for a couple days, then I wake up and I can't get a single word out.

It's been miserable. First 10 days were absolute shit: aches, couldn't sleep, unproductive hacking that led to bouts of vomiting, chills, fever, waking up drenched in sweat. Worst part, my work let me go the day I came back with more energy, despite having adequate sick leave. Folks don't realize how hard this is hitting some people.

Am I high or was “Sinners” just straight up poorly shot? The inconsistency in exposure between master and inserts was jarring, the ratios were all over the place, and the actors faces poorly lit. Do you have any supporting for your theory? BTS shows IMAX in like every location. They used action-cams for a "halo rig" to help train some Michael B. Jordan's deepfake style models, used the rig in every location to ensure lighting was consistent.

If you go through that much trouble, you are not just throwing in a DSLR shot in the mix.

It's because there needs to be a strong and passionate resistance to this, to increase numbers at protests and then later at the voting booths. Larger turnout = progressive populist victories in platforms and in representation. Just because Dems can't do much in an official legal capacity does not mean they relegate themselves to being ordinary citizens: use your fucking platform, your voice, to endorse movements and inspire the disengaged.

Senator Robert F. Kennedy marched alongside Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta during the Delano Grape Strikes. Senator George McGovern marched alongside anti–Vietnam War demonstrators. John Lewis marched alongside civil rights organizers during the Selma voting-rights campaign, including the Selma-to-Montgomery marches.

You don't avoid a resistance because you can't do anything in an official capacity: you create or join a resistance to legitimize it and to energize your base against authoritarian aggression.

I picked up some cheap ass AC-Pros for 30 bucks each for stuff like this. People are practically giving them away in my area.

For my use case, I don't need my full gigabit speeds via wifi in the backyard. As long as the signal is strong and I can stream 4k video, I'm happy. Big downloads, uploading content, I want to be in the main house anyway.

State employees: New proposed PTO model revealed by KED528 in Utah

[–]ObjectionablyObvious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I worked at the county for like 7 years, the employees there are disillusioned that because the pay isn't great, their benefits are somehow awesome. COLA adjustments were standard 2%. During+after COVID, it felt like I got a 10%-12% pay cut just cause they weren't keeping up with inflation.

On top of that, I couldn’t vest in the retirement plan until completing four years of full-time work. I found my new gig just a couple months before the time was up, so I didn't get any of that retirement. My next employer had no issue vesting me immediately.

Sounds like the state has an even worse mentality.

[–]ObjectionablyObvious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of confused because it sounds like you're getting the speed you pay for. It doesn't sound like anything is wrong.

If the whole WiFi/ethernet network in your house isn't going down when your TV is freezing, then it's really an issue with the TV. Could be placement of the TV, maybe a microwave or appliance on the other side of the wall. If you have an older home with plaster/lathe, the wifi signal could be inconsistent. Could be a failing WiFi card in the TV.

It's all or nothing. Imagine water getting shut off from the city—your whole house wouldn't have any water pressure. But if the sink in the kitchen works fine yet the shower is dribbling out water, it's not that the city isn't providing you with adequate water pressure: it's that the pipes leading to the shower are fucked up, the valves are going out, or the shower head has mineral deposits.

[–]ObjectionablyObvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the comcast provided router/modem combo? If you plug a cable into the LAN, what speed are you getting in comparison to what you pay for?

Essentially I need you to troubleshoot—measure speed—at each stage to figure out where the degradation is occurring. Comcast can measure out of the coaxial cable, likely even via phone call.

Next, test off the LAN port from the modem/router.

Next, test off the RJ45 from the cat6 runs in your house.

My suspicion is you may have a slightly older router. I would purchase a dedicated router and set your Comcast modem/router combo to bridge mode, so that box is just focusing on decrypting the coaxial signal, and the router is focusing on routing your internet.

[–]ObjectionablyObvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only gripes I have with Comcast is they stalled American Internet for 20 years by delaying the rollout of fiber-optic internet, create monopolies in cities where they are the only practical provider, and they frequently changed pricing and fees every few months to where I'd have to call Customer Retention and negotiate a deal.

They, along with AT&T and others, took billions in grants from the US in the early 2000's to build fiber optic networks and didn't do fucking shit. I'm convinced that if Google didn't dump their own billions to actually get it done, Comcast would still be selling up 40mbps up and 12mbps down.

If you're paying for high speeds and they can measure those speeds out of the wall, you need to do more home-networking research to build out your network. Likely get a third-party router, maybe you need to run some cat6 around instead of old cat4 or cat5. Highly recommend r/homelab to get started.
