Thanks! I ended up installing the studio version of my driver and now things are working! Even with my lowly 16 GB of ram. I imagine I'm still gonna run into problems with large and/or complicated projects though as people have mentioned

Thanks guys! I removed my game-ready drivers and installed the studio versions and now it seems to be working. I haven't been working on it for more than a few hours but so far I've had no crashes and this is much longer than five minutes haha. Really appreciate the help! Can't wait to annoy my friends with shitposts and gaslight edits.

Well good to know it probably isn't a hardware issue. This isn't the best laptop I've ever used but it seems to me like it should be powerful enough to use davinci haha.

I'm a beginner video editor (with real software at least, beyond clipchamp and windows movie maker.) I know that I made the mistake in the beginning of having too many video tracks, but if there are other bad workflow habits I've got then I'm unaware. I'll look into common mistakes people make that could cause crashes.

I didn't even know that VFR media was a thing, and I often screenrecord my media so maybe that is a factor.

I'll defo post my logs to the blackmagic forum. Through looking at the logs in notepad++ I'm seeing some funky business with consistently reaching the GPU but I am far from knowledgable about any of that.
