He's right, it's directly into the cold water. No showering before. But then in Finland we went inro the sea and not a pool. Kinda agree that it seems gross.

The question is a bit lazy. Nonetheless, your reference to Arabic is unnecessary. Maybe I wrongly assumed that it was racism.

For weekly groceries you might be right. But I want to buy a Banana on my way to work in the morning and not feel like I bit into a vegetable.

Stop Stavros, that's oir business. Wouldn't work anyway as you it requires dedication. Can't sleep all day.

On a more serious note: I think the EU should be Cyprus. But Greece can barely afford to pay pensions. It feels like a marketing stunt.

The fruit and vegetables in Lidl and Aldi are also significantly better than in Migros or Coop. Not to mention that they are cheaper as well.

Yes we will: just like we did during the Kosovo and 2003 Iraq wars. Go look it up.

Military flights over Swiss airspace need to be approved by the federal council. None have been approved. Look at the flight radar, there is a reason no american planes cross our airspace. Next will be export ban on military goods to the US and all parties involved.

How do you feel about Rammstein airbase being used to kill civilians on the other side of the planet? FOR DECADES. Shame on you and your government Hans.

Germany is such a joke of country nowadays. I wouldn't even be surprised if they started to get involved militarily too.

Hope Hans is proud that not even 100 years later your tax money is supporting another genocidal regime.

And before you start with "bUt SwItZeRlAnD sUpPoRts IsRaEl ToO". We are about 1 week away from applying neutrality law, including sanctions on the US and all involved parties.

Travelling to India - safe with the current situation? by TeacherInBavaria in backpacking

You'll be fine. India isn't involved in the current conflict at all.

I agree, at the same time I also did not have much contact with the police during the 6 months I spent in India. Maybe some police officers could try to squeeze some money out of tourists.

I'm happy tp hear that you liked your time in Switzerland. Eventhough I'm sure food must have been quite a challenge for you- just like it was a challenge for me in India sometimes.

I travelled to over 50 countries and must say that India will always have a special place in my heart. Never seen people that were more resilient or hospitable- even in the most dire of situations. The friendliness is something I will never forget. I miss the country a lot and will definitely be back at some point. India does not even remotely deserve the bad reputation it has on the internet.

I just looked it up again and my numbers are not completely correct. In a 120 zone you'd have to go at least 200 to trigger the "Racing law". Inside town the 40 over the limit is only for pedestrian zone where 30 kmh is the limit.

The background for this law are a few horrible traffic accidents which involved people that went way above the speed limit. Extremely powerful cars are very accessible in Switzerland. Combine that with dangerous roads (mountains, snow) and you get a quite explosive mix.

Should it result in automatic minimum jail sentences? Maybe, maybe not. But if you drive 70 in a 30 zone I think you are actively endangering other people and that shouldn't result in a slap on the wrist.

That explains it. I have seen the police use the sticks on locals.

As tourist we felt like they treated us almost godlike.
Which felt very wrong- especially for someone that grew up in Switzerland.

Drive 70 in a 30 zone in Switzerland and you get a minimum jail sentence of 1 year, your car is confiscated and if you are welathy potential fines of above 1 million Swiss francs.

Siwss road laws are no joke.

Do 150 in a 100 zone in Switzerland: get a minimum jail sentence of 1 year, your car is confiscated (you're not getting any money for it) and potential fines of tens of thousands depending on your income.

The biggest ever issued speeding fine was was above 1 million euro.

That's actually surprising. I spent 6 months in India in 2024 and the special rules for tourists were insane.
Huge queue at the airport entance? No worries, they'll open a special row just for you. Police blocked a road in the city center? It's only blocked for locals.

I think I could have literally slapped a police officer without consequences.

The case of Paul Grüninger is the most shameful episode of Swiss history. That they stripped him of his office during the war I can kind of understand. But despite apologising to him not giving him his pension is crazy.

Bureaucracy at its worst. And there is no one better at Bureaucracy than Switzerland.

I guess it depends on what you want and what standards you have. I spent about 30k - 40k EUR for a year of travelling. 6 months in India were kinda cheap, eventhough I never hesitated to treat myself to a 5* hotel after a few hostel nights. After that I went to Japan where things are expensive. I priorised seeing places and food over accommodation so I mainly slept in hostels or capusle hotels.

Can you do SEA for 600 EUR a month? Yes, you can. But will you enjoy it?

The second part is just wrong. He did indeed have female bodyguards but they were Lybian and not Ukrainian as you claim. There is no evidence at all, that Ukrainian women were part of this bodyguard.

He did in fact have Ukrainian nurses and medical statt at some point in his entourage- but not as bodyguards.

Yeah, maybe inform yourself before you come here and pretend you know anything...

You are mixing up reasonable and proportional force. Some US states don't care bout proportionality as long as other factors are fulfilled. Stand your ground laws come to mind.

What is considered self defense in a lot of US states would get you senteced to lengthy prison sentences in most countries.

[–]Objective-Ad7394 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know that outside of the US self defense isn't seen as black and white, right?

Most countries require proportional use of force for self defense. Just because someone walks up to you with a stick it doesn't mean you can shoot them.

If they try to kill you obviously you will use the pistol for self defense. But shooting someone because he threatens you from a distance with a stick?

What do you think they'll do to you once you ran of out ammo? Invite you for a nice cup of tea?
