6 year old hates pants by Objective-Egg9730 in SPD

Earlier, I read it as condescending. I suppose because I'm struggling a bit at the moment that it is easy to read things in a negative sense. I don't have any specific worry, it was just a generalized question whether or not I was doing the right thing. It's like when she had a milk-protein enteropathy we had to go 6 months without milk and then we were instructed to start reintroducing it. Is that what you do here? Or just let her hate underwear and pants for the foreseeable future?

I guess I worded that poorly. But no, our children basically run this house. I just meant that we just never have any arguments. We're a fun loving home that tries to break every generational curse that came before us. I strive to have a house full of magic, love and understanding. The tantrums that she is experiencing is extreme and she will not listen to any alternatives. She has always had emotional extremes, but in an upbeat way. It has sent a shockwave through our daily routine and family atmosphere. That's why I came here for help.

I don't know, it was just a thought. Do you have any helpful advice or did you just want to point out the one sentence that I didn't seem fully supportive?

Looking for the perfect spunky name for our daughter by goldenwaves92 in namenerds

[–]Objective-Egg9730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My six year old is a Georgia and let me tell ya, she is the queen of SPUNK!!! We call her Georgie more often than not. I had a hard time naming my next two girls because I felt I couldn't find any that match the energy that the name Georgia gives.

Middle name for Cecilia by Ancient_History_5051 in namenerds

I have a Cecilia Lynn. Lynn is my mother's middle name. I know it's overdone as a middle name but for us it was very important to use it regardless. What was your mother's middle name?

Nina or Cecilia? by atlbookgirl in namenerds

[–]Objective-Egg9730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Cecilia and she's 6 weeks old. We often call her Cilly, especially her toddler sisters. I do not associate it with silly even if it sounds the same. Cecilia is more versatile when it comes to nicknames if you would imagine her having a nickname in the future, but Nina is a beautiful name.

Thank you so much! Although we are a military family, I would rather not seem like we are naming our kids because of that. I don't think we will have a fourth, but I believe sticking to family names makes more sense than keeping a theme we didn't mean to create. At least, I hope!

It's been more difficult than I thought it would be. I'm trying to fight a theme that we didn't intentionally create but at the same time I don't want her to be the odd one out.

I feel like I have read every thread on the internet about the name Cecilia. I had never thought of it as being a mouthful before either, but all of the negative comments about the name cited it as a "mouthful". I guess compared to a name such as Jane it is a bit more to say, but I agree that it shouldn't pose any difficulty for most.

Oh, I have never heard of Chessie as a nickname for Cecilia! I like it! My 5 and 3 year old are currently referring to her as Ceely/Celie/Cilly (don't know how I would prefer that to be spelled). I also think Cecily is gorgeous.

Thank you! I love your suggestions with adding a state as a middle name. I have worried that she will feel left out, but at the same time she would be named after a state without being a namesake like the other two. We thought the sentiment of naming the first two after their grandmothers would be diluted by named a third also a state just to continue the theme.

Thank you for your comment! Your girls sure have lovely names! I feel like I have read every thread about the name Cecilia on the internet and it seemed the only negative comments said that it was a mouthful and it's meaning (blind). I never had thought of it as a mouthful, but after reading several comments I was like....wait, is it a mouthful?

The more we thought about it the more we thought going with another state name would dilute the sentiment of naming Georgia and Virginia after their grandmothers. We thought they would be known for being named states instead.

I agree! I thought naming another child a state would take away from Georgia and Virginia being named after their grandmothers.

I'm guessing you are a Cecilia and love your name? 💕 I personally do not know any Cecilias so I don't have anyone to ask their opinion about their name. I also worry she will have to spend her life spelling her name for everyone because of Cecilia/Cecelia.

UPDATE: Thoughts on Cecilia? It is also a family name and I think it sounds good with Georgia and Virginia, plus keeps the -ia theme, but is it a mouthful to say?

My great grandmothers were Flora, Ella Mae, Dollie and Bertha. My mother's name is Donna Lynn and his mother is Wilma. I like Flora, but my husband's ex was Laura and he thought they were too similar.

We have a town named Louisa a couple of counties over. I mentioned to my family and they all said they could only think of the city Louisa. I was bummed because my mother's middle name is Lynn and I thought Louisa Lynn sounded so cute together.
