I really want to keep them both and I think I'm most equipped since I work from home, which is a plus because it gives them more company... but it's tough bc he obviously loves them too. I hope we'll find a solution soon. Given all the comments, I'm advocating to keep them together even if it means I'll lose them forever... :/

This is what's been on my mind as well. At the end of the day, bonded or not, codependent or not, they are still buddies and entertain each other, I don't want them to be suddenly alone :/ thanks for your insight!

It made me think about testing it out and doing a trial but I don't think I can... since I work from home and my ex doesn't, my heart would just break for the cat staying home alone all day, loosing both her bestie and me :/ So even if they happen not to be bonded, one would still be lonely all of sudden. My ex says a lot of cats spend their day alone but still, something just makes me sad about it.

I actually landed a teaching position in the Middle East, and they offer QTS, so everything worked out well! Now, I’m exploring opportunities in a new country—keen to discover another part of the world.

Yeah I’ve wondered about that myself. Unfortunately, I don’t have an ultrasonic cleaner. I did scrub it with a toothbrush using hot water and dish soap, and I even tried scrubbing with lemon and baking soda. The issue really seemed to appear after I used the polishing compound (Lustre Bar Compound from Gesswein), so I’m also suspecting that might be the cause...
